The Haul: January 2020

Yeah, me too.........

 

An Ever-Ready 100 found in the wild yesterday. It's in good enough shape to use, but cheap enough I won't care if I mess it up working on it. I assume the top part was once white, and no amount of polishing will restore it.

I hope you enjoy yours more than I did ..... a beautiful razor, but just I just didn't enjoy shave enough to keep it.

 

My first tube, went with the green and bought the matching AS. Also picked up the red AS to go along with my red soap. Love that sandalwood scent.

 

Three SEs arrived today from our own @cliffb599, all in gorgeous condition, pics later.

I have in the past got the color back by carefully using a used very fine sanding sponge. Then you have to polish it to get back it's sheen.

I have some 2,000 grit sandpaper. Will that work?

 

While I don't know what grit the sanding sponge is, I'd go ahead and use it.

Today's finds, from 2 of 3 Goodwill stores I visited- the first is 2 pieces from Avon "The Pawn ll" chess pieces. The dark piece is about 25% filled with pre-shave oil, and the silver piece (has the box) is filled with hair/scalp conditioner. The scent is very masculine and woodsy, perhaps filled with Deep Woods?

If anyone has any info on this I'd be glad to hear it.

The 2cd nice find is a very cool bottle that says "Benjamin Franklin" on it and has his photo (might not come across well in the pic). I added the cork. Might make for a nice AS bottle.

 

Probably, but I prefer the ivory color.

 

If you can get 3,000 grit after that.
Then rubbing compound till it shines.
Be gentle!
But I'd clean it well with soap and water really well first.
