New SKype Phone. Installing a new Skype phone the iPhone from Linksys. (Cisco) CIT400. pretty cool stuff I can call to people who also have a Skype ID for free. If I take a SKype Pro subscription which aint too expensive about 2-3 € a month I can call to any landline here in holland for free thats pretty awesome. I think Skype is the future and SIP will have a run for its money.. because all you need is this phone and a router connection with your ADSL or Cable modem even. there are even Skype landline nr's so then anyone can call you much cheaper then the telephone company here in Holland offers. im basically renting a PSTN line from them because I wanted ADSL which is I think a rip off. At the moment I have 3 networks. 1- regular Landline by biggest phone network supplier 2-Voip landline nr thru my isp. 3- Skype ID. The possiblities are endless these days but people should really look into it dont pay too much for your phone calls ! Im hoping more and more people will go SKype.. its really matured now and there are cool USB phones too and headsets so no more ackwards sitting infront of your laptop or computer with a microphone those days are gone.. welcome to the year 2008
To me VoIP is no alternative (for now). I still love my old analogue telephone - those things work even after a thunderstorm when you're cut off from electricity for hours
You would think they would have gotten some of the alternatives right by now, but as far as I'm concerned, nothing beats an analog phone and the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). Perfect calls every time. I have Skype and a video cam, and yes, it's free for calls to other Skype users. Quality-wise though, you get what you pay for. Still, my son's in Guam with the same setup and it was cool seeing him half a world away. Even with the echo and the seriously delayed video transmission.
I have all systems running here analog PSTN , SIP thru my ADSL supplier and now SKYPE. I agree PSTN works thru everything and I can simply use this phone as a PSTN phone or hi-tech SKype internet phone. it has the best of both worlds I simply select which network I want to use. Almost all of my suppliers from Asia supply a Skype line /ID its happening. When Im cut off from Electricity and something really bad must have happened I still have my GSM Cellphone and the analog line which offcourse I had to rent for wanting to be on ADSL. its all bull crap monopoly position of the PSTN network supplier. the day for no rent payment is what I wait for even better Fiberoptic directly into my house then its bye bye to analog all together. Also one must be aware not everyone has the luxury of having 14.5Mbit continous stream... in my case I wont have any problems I hope ? Lets pray ? hehe... still installing here.... you must also be aware this stuff it totally tuned for Skype .... ill report back with voice quality .... and ease of use...
reading the manual and the opening statement is this ? ok I guess I didnt want kids afterall.... how many of you wash hands after using a phone ? it seems Klaus knows best stick to OLD analog...
I'll be looking into Skype. A buddy in Denmark calls me on occasion using Skype. I think it is the future. Johan that is a lovely case. Is that an open comb? I use a Gillette Open Comb on occasion and it is a terrific shave. Tom
Yup, open comb. I bought it primarily because it was Swedish (and a decent price), but it looks like it could be a great shaver too. Some brassing though, and it will need a good cleanup before use.
