Well one step closer to my goal of getting those Gillette Adjustables taken care of. I just picked this Super 84 off at ebay. I only have one more Black Beauty till I have all four. I still need the Super 109. Just waiting to find a good one.
I was surprised it went for as much as it did. It really popped in the last minute or two. It went for user grade toggle money. Sheesh.
Maybe Because it is factory sealed with the blades turned wrong?? Like I misprinted Dollar kind of thing, making it worth more?? Or could just be ebay I watched a standard SS with no case go for $250 once. I don't think that was an unrealistic price for what you have there, though.
No, I am happy with the price and happy to get it. It was just close to my max bid so it gave me a bit of a scare I couldn't get it. I think the Super 84s are a really cool razor too. Edit: The 84 is my favorite of the Super Adjustables.
At first, I loved the long handle then I got use to razors with shorter handle now I don't like it much at all. It is weird how your tastes change so quickly in this hobby. I guess that is why the ADs never go away.
Thank you. It's in Hawaii so I have to wait at least 5 more days for them to send then transit time. Edit: I was expecting to get sniped in the end but my initial bid held up for like 5 days. I was concerned that others weren't bidding past $150. And I was at the reserve price. But that guy that bid $150 in the end made me pay a fair price. I just got an email from the seller. He is shipping Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Can't wait to get my paws on it and shoot a nicer picture too.
A timely delivery from Razor Blades & More: Speick Aftershave, a backup tube of Speick cream, 100 Sunrise blades, and two bonus packs of SuperMax blades. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Speck AS comes in a nice glass bottle. I couldn't resist trying it out, it has a very light, clean scent and isn't the least bit oily. Now I've got my first matched set of cream and AS, and enough of my favorite blades to last a little while.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. Guess what? Believe it or not I was just in contact with a guy over at B&B about buying his 1956 serial numbered 5 dial gold red dot toggle. Supposedly there were about 5000 made but I only know of three different current owners of them. I offered a blank check.... but he wasn't selling (at this time) and thanked me for the interest Edit: But he has my contact info now.
He won the lottery that day!! I spend a bit of time each day tending fences over at ebay checking different search strings. The automated notification doesn't work that well. I got my Executive Fatboy with case and blades for $95 BIN which I was very happy with. The razor is mint and the case is excellent; no cracks or dings. It's a nice story I have but nowhere as good as a serial numbered toggle for $40!!!
By now you have to know of my B-RAD... I got it bad... For some reason I've always wanted a Waterford brush (sight unseen) but having one in hand is something else! It's just the right size and heft and pics don't do it justice. Unfortunately I'm now terrified of dropping it. I'll probably use it on my birthdays, when I use my Fatboy. Then, maybe not... Oh, and I might as well fess up to my Boker straight razor. Truth is, I won this on Ebay because I was being an ass. I'd lost out on 3 of them over the weeks because they all went well over what I was going to spend (I decide my price and stick with it.) This one, someone had in a bid of $24.89. I'd lost mine at $63, the cheapest (1 went for almost $100). I said "no way they're getting this that cheap!" with 40 secs on the clock. I was just trying to push them up and make them pay for it, so I clicked the one-bid, thinking I'd push them up into the 40's (I NEVER do anything like this normally - guess I was just bitter from never finding them this low). My bid was for $25.89 and I was the highest bidder! Won it and almost fell over. I wasn't planning on buying another razor but I'm glad I did. I think it's a beauty.
