From one side of the world to another. Thanks @Lyndon. You will always have a place in my den. a franks shaving synthetic brush that looks brand new...GENEROUSLY pif'ed to me by @Lyndon ...she is purdy and i cant wait to take her for a spin. THANK YOU again.
It is the same brush, it's beautiful! Well worth $20..I haven't shaved with the razor yet, I will tomorrow morning. I will have used all but the new open comb on the above list, so I'll have a good feel for how aggressive this Tech is. It is very solid, well made. And at $75 a bargain.
Got this in the mail today - Glen/ @gssixgun did an absolutely fantastic job restoring this razor - both scales (metal parts are all cleaned up, scales 'glow') as well as blade where the frown is completely gone! Couldn't be happier with it!
Also, got this back from Glen: A REX wedge blade to be used in some of my old French hoe razors. I'll be testing out the honing next week and if all goes well, poor Glen will have three more to buff and hone Near impossible to take a good macro photo of an edge "showing how sharp it is" - but here's one for fun and let me tell you...it's sharp!
Big Thank You goes out to @Lyndon for this awesome Frank's Badger Brush I won in his PIF! Never used anything except a VDH boar and this brush is Sooo luxurious it is unbelievable!! Used it once already and it lathers like crazy and it is so soft yet maintains its backbone very nicely! Thank you Lyndon, I have a new everyday brush!
Couple of nice finds from the weekend. The Avon one is actually hair tonic but it is cool and will look awesome in my shave cabinet. The OS isn't that old but it is a glass bottle and it is full!
Ron, the proprietor and gentleman - I mean that sincerely - at Chiseled Face got my email in time. Instead of sending me a free bottle of Summer Storm to right the incorrectly sent (but wonderful) Ghost Town Barber, he sent the requested samples of SS, Sherlock, AND threw in something called Cinnawood Boroka. I hadn't noticed that last one on his site but I look forward to sampling it too. And he included two packs of Smarties. Since I've deliberately not shaved in three days in expectation of this delivery, I'm looking forward to a leisurely razoring this afternoon followed up by Summer Storm.
Hey Friends, my very first swedish "Swing" Safety Razor arrived yesterday. I find it very nice. It´s not worn too bad. It´s Vintage. I like the look. Seems to be a rare one...Maybe some of the Experts here can tell me a bit about it. I have no Info´s about the age or something... Greetings Thorsten
Great razor It's not much, but there is SOME information in this thread I made some time ago: http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/swedish-swing-razors.43386/ There is also a great post here, in Swedish, that shows the old manufacturing plant, etc back in the days: http://www.gavledraget.com/10000-hi...-var-emil-zeidlitz-affarside-av-ulf-kristrom/ If the razor says "Swing Ltd AB" it's from after 1945.
i read somewhere that the knot is the same as the Plisson one. Dont know if it is true, but i have always loved the look of this Fine brush. Now i know the knot is similar to a Plisson I might try and order one next month.
Mongoose Razor and Try-A-Blade Sampler. I had to sell two pieces of Unobtainium to finance this purchase. Mergress Long Handle and RazoRock Stainless Stealth Slant razors.
