That's right! I bought it because I wanted it!

Oh and I found two D2 Flair Tips also...

    The Avon was produced 1970-71.

And not one, but two TV specials? Great find!

I've heard of the TV specials... how can you tell and what was so special about them?

The lines on the handle only run long-ways...and not cross hatched like the others.

As for the specialness, they were a promotional tie-in to Gillette's sponsorship of the "Cavalcade of Sports".

    I have a '58 TV SS and a regular '58 SS.
I think the TV shaves better.
    For whatever that's worth.

It's a beauty. I just shaved with mine this morning in honor of D-Day.

I just meant I win "the haul" for this month. I haven't opened it yet, but I am leaning in that direction. I'm thinking I may have to do my first video for the opening and subsequent shave if I settle on that.

Not so much a new haul, but they did come back to me after being gone for a while. Glen did an awesome job on the last three straights I sent him. He replaced the two with new wood scales and cleaned up and honed all three. Now, which one do I use first?

PS, I have two more for you Glen @gssixgun .

Edit: I just noticed this should have been posted in the Mail Call thread. Oh well.

When ever I get a razor that needs to be lubed up, I use Cart Gun Oil from Alchemy AirWerks. It's made for CO2 air guns and it's thin and lasts a long time. I've had a couple of razors that needed lubrication and have stood up to many shaves and rinses and have yet to be re-lubed. Just takes 1 or 2 drops from each end of the handle to work.

Did you request that kind of finish?

I'm still waiting to see a mirror finish from one of glenn's restores...I prefer that high polished mirror-like finish.

No I didn't. I just told Glen I like the vintage look and don't need a lot of flash. As long as they are cleaned up the best they can be so the rust is gone and looks good. So far I'm happy with his work and results. I'm in the early learning stages of SR use, so once I find a razor worthy of the time (and $$) for a full blown high gloss restore, this works for me.

One day I will get a mirror finished one.

Both cleaned up pretty good. The 109 no longer squeaks, but I fear it's out of adjustment. The gap appears to be the same on 1 and 9.

Island Lime is my favorite Avon scent by far. Very nice find!

Other people have mention on here that additional soaking in hot water and Dawn might work. You could have a lot of dirt or soap scum built up inside. I'd try doing a bit more cleaning. might take some time.
