I feel like it's just not compatible with my shaving routine, methodology and techniques.

No debate, but I think badger is still the standard of excellence. But I agree synthetics have some convenience qualities, and are improving.
But this is only my opinion.

Standard of luxury for sure, not really excellence per se. If a synthetic produces better lather faster, with less soap and water and effort, it's quantifiably better than Badger. Skin feel is similar. Synthetics have eclipsed natural in every performance aspect.

I'm glad you think so, I'm not there yet. Badger is still king to me.

Do you bowl lather? If so, I get it. I am a face lather guy, and there's just no comparison for me.

I do both. And i may change to your way of thinking one day. I have
    FS pur-tech
    Kent silvertex
    Plisson
And now a muhle called silvertip
They are nice, but my badgers still feel right to me.
I'm not ready to say they're as good, you may be, but I'm not.

I'm the opposite. I love my synthetics for bowl lathering and have grown to prefer my Wolf Whiskers Badger for face lathering. It splays better than my synthetics.

I sure that when you try a modern synthetic, you'll find a day and night difference. I started out with an Omega boar, that I still have (and use periodically), but I started re-knotting vintage brushes with Maggard's synthetic knots and find they are some of my favorite brushes. Some of them I have over 100 shaves with and still enjoying them as I did as day one. Just keep an eye on the up coming PIFs. ;)

Brian knows I am just playing. I am not out to deny anyone an @swarden43 approved shave, David!

Congratulations! Mine is just a clone. Same with my SR. That's a clone as well. I don't seem to be lucky at getting the RealThing(tm)

I just got my Ronson Razor! It does have a blade in it, but the edge of the blade _sucks_. Not nice for a stainless steel blade. Maybe I'll send it to @twhite and see if he can hone it. I'll also see if another blade can be made compatible. I'll try to get some pictures in the sunlight by Saturday, including close ups of all the weird and wonderful bits and bobs. I don't think this'll be a keeper for me; once I've gone over the entire way it's built, it would be a waste for me to put it in a drawer. So I'll eventually pass it along to someone else who will cherish it more than I :)

The Rolls Razor is still stuck in Melissa. I need to stop by the post office and have them poke them.

Oh - I also have 25 grinding stones (smallest lot I could get) coming from a US seller in Nashua, New Hampshire. They have a good selection of rotary tool bits, for not much more than the ones ordered direct from China. (seller graphics_wiz) 25 of them with shipping for less than buying three from the local store - if the local store even carried 8mm-5/16" grinding stones. I'll probably buy polishing wheels from them too.

That'll let me finish up the preliminary on the various carbon fiber rod handles, so I can ship them off to unsuspecting vict... I mean, to the eagerly awaiting volunteers! Then they can say they have a 'haul'.
