I know funny and that's funny.

 

nothing too exciting today, just a jumbo pinaud stypic pencil to replace my small one, i left it wet and melted half down... lol

I gave my sexy (but useless) L'Occitane travel brush & some gear to a friend in set design. She just wrote that she'll be sending me this lovely lady, who'll certainly get a new hairdo. I'm happy

A nice puck of triple milled shave soap and a bottle of D.R. Harris Co. Bay Rum AS! Oh, and two Rolls Razors in great condition (left: stainless steel Imperial no.3, right: very little used Imperial no. 2)

A friend of mine came in yesterday from Zagreb and brought me two packs of Bolzano blades which I have been waiting to try out for a long time ,and he threw in some BIC's and Elios for good measure, and a tube of Palmira shave cream (can't wait to try that out). And the brush was a impulse buy when I saw it was more than 50% off, it's a HJM fine badger, and performs like a champ

 

Those shave really nicely, very differently than other SS's, nicely aggressive.

 

I have really enjoyed using it this week. Close shaves, no irritation.

Posted this in straight forum, but I picked up a cut throat from craigslist for $10, a leather strop from an antique store for $15, and some free polsilver stainless blades from a generous TSD member.

 

I got home fron a short vacation this evening to find that this arrived!

It is a Gillette Aristocrat No. 22.

There are a Gillette couple spots where the rhodium has flaked off, but I got it at an affordable price so I am fine with it. I'll be using it tomorrow to see how it goes/feels.

 

Not my haul but my son's: I have just ordered him a new Thiers Issard Crown Silverwing which will be kept slightly oiled and wrapped up in the safe until he starts shaving. That's still a couple of years to go, he's turning 10 months next week... Anyhow, I wanted to ensure he'll get his own new quality straight when he needs one, and a special one at that. This particular Silverwing edition fits the bill.

 

Nice pick up. May I suggest you send the razor to Glen, gssixgun, a member for proper honing. The strop can be cleaned up and conditioned easily. Walmart's shoe section has saddle soap and neatsfoot oil , one cleans and one conditions . I've found that barber strops like this one are usually horsehide. You can clean the linen component with warm water and upholstery cleaner and let dry overnight .

I got a late birthday present today from a family member in Germany - was easy to find out the new company she worked for LOL. Braun 590CC-4, it's currently charging, as with all things shaving I will be giving it a very fair shot for a few days to see how the new generation performs.
