The Haul: March 2016

Not a straight guy but when I saw these at 5 for $30 I took a chance. They need a good cleaning and love, but still look serviceable with work. The Blue Ribbon catched my eye the most. It appears to be a glossy brown tortoise shell-ish looking scale that really draws my eyes.

Rob you will really like the PAL use a Chick blade. Awesome stuff.

 

After reading all the great comments about this product I had to go out and buy it. I'm going to experiment with it both as a facial cleaner as well as a pre-shave.

I'm a rookie guy with straights but it looks like a great hall to me.

 

My Schick Type E 1 Injector arrived this morning from the USA..As you can see this One has a Square Spring the same as the Earlier Type D that Opens..This was the Only Type E with a Square Spring & they are One of the Rarest of All Injectors..This was obviously presented to a "Zain Prize Winner" which is a Competition that started in the USA Advertising Industry in the 1920s and is still held to this day as I understand it for the Best Advertisement Idea of the Year..

My Friend from the USA @Karl G Kindly done the Bidding for me & sent it over as the Seller didn't post to the UK..Two other friends from the Shave Den were Involved in giving me the Heads up on this Injector & Supported my Purchase..Thank You to the Kind Folks from the Shave Den as this wouldn't have been possible without their Help & Support..I am Deeply Humbled & Over the Moon..

Barbaros finally arrived. I was waiting a long time for it. I will try to review it after a week.

 

Hmm.... Ordered off the bay for $4+free shipping! Guess how much shipping was............ $6.45. I don't understand.

Being that there is so much vintage AVON out there, I decided to see what they offer now a days. Not much. I figured for the price, I'd give this a try. Also there is a current men's line(3 items) that I may give a try. But I'll start here.

PS. So far, it smells like Grandma. Hopefully it's better after a fresh shave.

 

I was blessed with a gift.
A denizen graciously gave me a OCMM, two blades, and two very nice smelling soap samples. Thanks bro, your awesome.

 

What I thought was a '48-'50 and turned out to be a '54 Super Speed. Last year production of the '40s style, super clean, and my own fault for not asking...but it's a sweet-looking razor and Ima gonna keep it. What blade tonight? Maybe a Voskhod...



Edit: I opted for a Lord Platinum Class tonight...smooth blade, but not the sharpest. I think the slight bit o' blood I drew was from the butchering I got from the Nacet last night. I think I'll give my face a day off tomorrow & let it heal up some. But, I digress...

It's no wonder the '40s style SS is a favorite of DE shavers. I found its center balance point to be about 1/4" from where the checkering ends, and choking up to this point makes it feel like there's nothing in your hand. If you're just starting out wet-shaving, get one of these. They aren't expensive, and it will outlast you and your kids' kids. If you've been shaving for 40+ years and don't have one, get one. It took me that long to discover how great these things are.

 

I stopped in an Antiques Shop looking for razors yesterday and left with a display cabinet. Time to start filling it up.

These two came in the mail while I was away this weekend. The brush has a beautiful handle.
