Mail call from Maggard Razors! Pre-shave oil & soap/cream samples, blades, and a shiny new M3 razor! Yeah boy!
Maybe this is misplaced but A BIG thank you to @RaZorBurn123 I really appreciate it. Decisions decisions, wich to try first.. Hmmm
I do. When I first started I was a cream and bowl. Now I'm soap and face lather. Not sure why I just bought a nice bowl? And my scuttle?
Because you "needed" it? Hahaha it's a nice bowl, you will use it =) I'm not very good at facelathering (yet)
Yes me too, it left Chicago on the 19th I believe. 3 days, that's great. It means I won't hesitate as much when I run out
I though the price was a little high, but I realized that I paid more for my Merkur. (rationalizing-it works!)
Picked these up last week. The B2 Flaretip and the no date code Tech were in the wild and the E2 Fatboy was an auction item.
After a two-hour trek through an outdoor Antique & Collectible's Faire, I came across several vendors who actually carried some shaving-related paraphernalia. One vendor had several SE razors and about a dozen SRs—most outrageously overpriced. I did find a sweet little straight razor from Geo H. Weyer 5/8 'German-made' 50th Anniversary razor (1882-1932) with some unique scale/bolster treatments. I also found a vintage 2.5x24" Genuine Horse Hide strop. Not bad for a total of $32. Here's the stuff…plus a few jeweler's files…
Couple three items picked up over the past few days at a few different antique shops. First up is a stamp carousel for $12. I've been looking for one of these and was glad to find this one because of it's size and color. Other ones I've seen have been larger and/or taller than what I wanted so I'm pleased to add this to my shave gear. A little cleanup and it'll be ready to hang shave brushes. Next, from the same store is a Gem Open Comb Micromatic razor. I already have a Gem Clog Proof but didn't have an Open Comb. This was $8 and then was supposed to be 20% off but I noticed today looking at my receipt that they forgot to give me the discount. It cleaned up pretty good and I shaved with it this morning. Then a few miles down the road at another store I picked up a Surrey shave brush for $10 that appears to have never been used. Not too sure if the knot will stay together but I like the handle so I'll clean and sanitize it and give it a go. Finally, from a shop close to home I visited yesterday morning, a Burma Shave mug and puck of soap for $8.50. I saw a nice Old Spice mug but left it on the shelf because it was marked $12 and I've been getting them for about half that price. I'm not sure if the soap is something I should put on the shelf and save or if it's something I should use. I'm not a vintage soap collector but it was interesting to see a puck of Colgate shaving soap in the store I got the Burma Shave mug in for $8 when I'd just seen several pucks of Colgate the day before in a different shop for $4 each and almost bought one but hadn't a clue whether it was a good price and/or a good soap.
Nice, John! One note on the brush carousel: I have and use one very similar, and I dipped the prongs (those that clasp the brush) into PlastiDip. This gives the prongs better 'grab' on a wet brush, plus it won't scratch the brush handle. Before I did this, though, two handles show some 'scrape' marks.
