Received my French Roger razor. Happy to see that it was in even better condition than the photos on the bay led me to believe - shiny, no scratches or plate loss. The two Roger wedge blades have seen better days so I may or may not pursue having them honed - or simply use some of the others I have. The stropping handle attachment fits securely into the end of the handle. The razor and box The razor w/ no blade mounted The original wedge blades that came with the razor are in so-so condition. The clasp at the back of the razor is holding the blade firmly in place Side-view showing the blade held in place
Thanks, I'm really digging the French wedge/hoe razors and can't wait to shave with them using some professionally honed blades.
Well, I think it's safe to say that neither of them will be taking home any price in the best-looking-blade competition. Blade 1 has some nasty chips on the edge: Blade 2 looks better albeit some rust stains on the blade and might be a candidate for honing: Back of them:
OK..one more my mom found. I haven't seen one of these posted around here... Its all plastic, says Wilkinson Sword at the end of the handle on the top and made in USA on the bottom. An ideas on rarity, quality, or blades?
That, is a Wilkinson Sword bonded. It's uses the same cartridges as my T70 (I picked up some on the cheap on the bay). It's, I believe, the first cartridge razor ever made. Here's the original instructions in case it didn't come with them:
Well now. Thank you very much for the info. Looks like I'll be needing to find some cartridges for this guy.
You might be rewarded with a great experience - a lot of people out there loves it. As you can see here it got quite a few votes for best cartridge razor made Blade sells regularly on eBay - sometimes at crazy prices - but expect to pay about $4-5 for a pack.
OS mug and brush....with soap. Not sure about brush brand because as you can see its a little worse for wear. And, how safe is used soap? Scrape it out and toss it or lather up the top layer real good, rinse and will be be safe to use?
Thanks. I don't know about the soap. How safe is used soap? It came as a package deal and figured a really good sanding of the handle and some new paint or stain and it might be nice.
Should we tell @Mustache that there is a June thread now or should we let him believe it is still may?
I got one of those in 1970 when I was in college. It worked well until I changed the blade, and started to shave. The cartridge had the blade misaligned. It took a chunk of flesh out of my left cheek that is still a problem to this day. I tossed it and went back to my Schick.
