Thanks, that sound more sensible than my suggestion.
But since your gun culture is a bit different than ours, I just had to ask :)

The notion of having a gun to shoot snakes or other forms of nuisances is also strange to me. Norway is very safe with regards to animals. We do not have any poisonous snakes, insects or dangerous predators.
Granted we have a few dozen bears or perhaps a dozen wolves spread across the country. But that's too few to even be a nuisance. Except if you are a sheep :)

This is pretty much right on the money. Nuisance animals and people. There are a number of coy dogs in the area (coyote crossed with domestic dogs) and they tend to be aggressive and have killed a number of pets in my area over the last few years.

Since I have been spamming this thread with some "off-topicisms" I think it is only prudent that I try to make amends with some items of my own.

From what I have been told, the Spoiler blade is supposed to be quite good. Naturally I had to see for myself and managed to get a hold of a few of them.
Furthermore I got a few items from a few Gentlemen on a British forum.

Two sticks of Camelot shave soap and five sticks of old formula Erasmic shave sticks.
I paid for the Erasmic sticks, but were PIF'ed the Camelot sticks.

As a matter of fact, they were specifically searched for and purchased by a friend of a member of the above mentioned forum. Said friend sent them to the UK and then forwarded to me all free of charge.
I am very impressed and grateful for this generosity. Apparently generosity among wet shavers is not just limited to The Shave Den, but is a trait for traditional wet shavers everywhere.

I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six.

Also, shooting is a ton of fun.

I've been looking at a few Remington 870 Expresses. I have a Remington 11oo .12 gauge that belonged to my dad.

I got a wood shave bowl, I was planning on refinishing it but now I think I may just clean it up a bit. I like the vintage looks of the partial label.

Nice. I love shooting the 1100, but hate cleaning them. They get very sharp inside. Wait until after deer season and approaching Christmas when folks need money. You will see a number of pump guns on the used rack in most shops. There are over 10 million 870s out there and most of them have very few rounds through them. I had an 870 Express in .410 that was a great little squirrel and bunny gun, until I sold it to a friend for his grandson to have as a first gun.

I'll get one in .12 guage. I love how they're so plentiful and cheap. I personally thought that cleaning the 1100 was fairly easy. There was only a few parts to it. It hadn't been touched in 25 years. The hardest part was getting all the dust out of those hard to reach spots.

Maybe just a coat verathane to preserve the lable?

That's not a bad idea, I think I'll try to clean it a little then put a coat of Spar Urethane on it and see how it looks.

Oooh... a little jealous here. I've never tried a spoiler nor camelot. But, I stocked up on old formula Erasmic stick after the first reformulation. It's wonderful stuff.

One to shave with; the other to practice cleaning, restoring & honing with….;)

A vintage Böker on the right in very nice, shave-ready condition; a vintage Wadsworth in need of some cleanup & honing, on the left. One acquired via a shave forum classified; the other from ebay for dirt cheap. All I can do is hold them and anticipate using them, which won't happen until I get use back of both arms. :(
