I picked up what is supposed to be a Bakelite Star razor to go with the Star case that came with an English Gillette. It's definitely a Star handle and baseplate, but now I'm not sure about the cap. In a nutshell, it's a peaked Bakelite cap with the numbers '1' and '2' on opposite sides as opposed to a metal cap. My first hint that something was wrong was when I put in a blade. Basically, there was almost no blade gap!

Needless to say, an attempted shave was mild to the point of ineffectual.

    Anybody recognize this top cap?

Thanks guys. I haven't checked about the blade fit yet. I'll have to take a look. It didn't strike me as being an unusual size.

A good day at the ole mail box. 1931 Goodwill complete set (#160) I don't think this has been used.

I guess I'm confused on the difference btwn the 60 and 62. I do recall that mine is not slotted.

The biggest difference is that the 160 is based on the New LC while the 162 is based on the OT.

I'm proud to now own JR #41, a badger brush. Just as well-crafted and beautiful as the others. Thanks @Jayaruh!

You are right it's not a #160. Mr Razor shows the #160 cap plain (how did I miss that?) without any design. I was purely looking at the box. Other sites reviewed and it does look like a #162. Thanks.

Another proud owner of a JR brush #132 silver tip badger. This brush looks awesome! Thanks @Jayaruh

Also an adjustable Slim and an assortment of blades was a nice bonus! [IMG][IMG]

A super haul from Stirling Soap!! Mountain Man is inspired by Creed Silver Mountain Water, and boy does it smell fantastic.
Also, the 2 band Tuxedo knot. And yes the Stirling Soap mark is perfect on the brush.
