Honestly? Not sure. I'm not an expert in scale construction. Probably Bakelite, or something like it. Not mother of pearl, not iridescent enough.
Antique Store Gem Junior Brass Single Edged Safety Razor. $9. Cleaned up really well. Update on 17 Distressed Safety Razors - I cleaned the rest of the razors up to see what was under all the crap. I was able to get most of them into pretty good shape. I did however scrap a 30s Gillette Brass Tech with knob end. It had cracks all over the place, the unknown str8 has a hairline crack near the tip so this is a practice honing project and the Gem Single Edged with wood handle had just too much metal fatigue. I was able to replace the Brass Tech with a really nice one so that was cool. The British Slim Twists both have decent heads but the plastic white slip on handles have cracks at the tips where it slides onto the head. I have to either super glue the cracks if possible or find some type of replacement handles either original or after market. The heads have a small grooved stem that slides/grips into the top of the handle. If I was handy with wood this would be an interesting project. I'm not handy at anything so that's out.
Last Saturday, I bought an entry-level, no-nonsense pipe from Saint-Claude to do some practice. And my third pipe is en route.
Orange, Blueberry,& Avalanche soap doesn't sound good to me, but YMMV. Those would be 3 separate soaps, guys. You forgot something, Ken.
Well actually I didn't notice anything until you just said it.. and I went and looked and there is some Lemongrass Cream in there too! Double thanks!
Picked this up at a garage sale this weekend for $2. It will look nice displayed with the cigarette boxes. [vbpg]707[/vbpg]
I used to have one that looked very similar to that one. Is there a little round clay stone in the lid?
The stone is missing but there's a place for it, maybe it's yours. The one I had only held pipes, wish I had saved all that stuff!!
Finally decided on a brush I picked up a slightly used Kent Bk4 went up for sale on SMF. After a little haggling, I pulled the trigger on it. Should be here in about 6 days I was going to wait and get an SR 3320 or 22 but at the price I got the Bk4, I couldn't pass it up. The SR will have to wait a couple of months. ::
My last straight purchase for a while, until after Christmas or I find another part time job: Frederick Reynolds "The Old English Razor" 7/8 notch point, seen here.
