Nice. I want to find original cases for my three old Gillettes but I haven't dug around for them yet.
Hi Friends, today is Christmas for me...Ho ho ho... Today i got 3 items (pic-heavy).The first item was highly awaited. My "Vintage Bakelite Slant" made in Germany. In a handy travel case, which i like very much. Additional with some Blades from Gillette / Wilkinson out of China, which i never used before (and never heared of even). Under the Razor is a little "Box" for used Blades. I know there are a few photos of this razor, but i´m so happy that it´s mine... The 2nd item is a DE razor too...it was additional in the package.Nice!!! Alfa Bakelite DE Razor with an handy travel case.3-piece razor and a real light weight, just like the Bakelite Slant. The case is also good to use for small brushes. Black is beautiful!!! The Head...this razor is a little more aggressive because of the blade exposure. I´m curious to test it. Item 3 is without a picture because it is "only" a sample of the unscented version of Martin de Candre Shaving soaps. This one will be used for my sunday shave (together with the Vintage Bakelite Slant). That´s it for now...hope everyone of you is fine. Take care. Greetings Thorsten
One vintage silver plated shave mug (Before cleaning, it does have some plating loss, but it is old!!) Gillette slim twist with original case (Not a true classic but my dad had one of these when he was alive so I had to get one, just took awhile for a nice one with case to show up) Boots English Lavender shave stick NOS with brilliantine and a NOS vintage Erasmic shave stick. A very rare Gillette Berkshire 'French set' A Gillette slim with case, and some NOS blades, the razor is in very good condition
A Gillette Traveler set which is missing one of the silver plated tubes but does have what looks like a brush that has never been used as all the hairs are straight, will get a replacement tuse in time, so I can complete the set.
I think it was a German set (1967 ish) according to Mr Razor who has a nice blue coloured case shown on his site rather than the cream one I have. I also got another TV Rocket that looks mint condition, but I have not taken pics of that yet. lol The first TV rocket i got is my current daily shaver. you gotta love rhodium it just shines
Any of the British razors are better shavers than their US counterparts. My favorite is the HD, I really wish I could find one in need of a replate and have rhodium plated so it would look nice next to my #16. But they even in bad shape bring a mint price over here.
Ive still yet to have a HD its on my shopping list at the moment, its not a Must BUY ie I will wait for a price that is right for me, I'm sure it would look sweet in Rhodium, (albeit very pricey after initial purchase and plating costs) but its its shaving good thats OK with me. I have a #16, for me its a great looking razor but I dont feel it shaves as good as the TV rocket, hence it staying in its case most of the time.
These came in the mail yesterday! I can't wait to try the Cat o' Nine Tails! and the hair tonic isn't bad either.
Well, I really fell off the wagon this week. Stopped at two antique stores today at lunch time and then got home to find packages on the porch with more yet to come. I'll start with the mail. It's the vendor's fault for having a sale and sending me the email notice. First package was shave cream and aftershave, both on sale. Then I opened up a few things I accidently bid on while looking at eBay I've already got a Schick razor nearly identical to this one but not in as good of shape. Is there any way to tell the age or model of these things? The only differences I see in the markings is one says "Eversharp Schick" on the round part on the back and the other one says "Schick Injector" And then a cute little model I felt I needed... I tried to take a picture of the actual model but it's still in it's original unopened plastic display so it came out pretty fuzzy. 1/64 scale with the Old Spice sponsorship. ...and then some vintage blades The blades I had originally been outbid on but the winner declined so I got to buy them on a second chance. Okay, that's all the mail. Now for the antique shops. A brush, a razor and a blade box with one blade at one store... The brush is an Ever-Ready C40 and the razor is date coded Y2. Don't know anything about the brush but it's either got a new knot or it's hardly been used. I've already got another Ball Tech but it's chrome and this one was in really good shape. Oh, and did I mention the vendor had the razor and blade box bundled together with this handy valet? Neat, huh? And then last but not least. A Valet Auto Strop complete with instruction sheet and a few blades at another store that ought to clean up pretty nicely. ...uh, and I've got 3 more razors I got (accidently) on eBay that should be here in a few days... Hey, it's not like I post everything I buy!
I just got 100 of the Gillette Wilkinson's a few weeks ago. It's a very good blade for me and inexpensive.
I ordered some cigar boxes from Cigars International. 10 boxes for $20 includint shipping. I got some nice razor storage boxes.
Man I have a serious problem. I just ordered Captain's Choice Bay Rum. But at least I will smell good... hopefully.
Here's my haul from the nationwide box. Some shave sticks, some ver degulde hand shave soap, a Gem razor, Whoos victory shave soap, a gillette travel tech in case, some assorted de blades, a sheffield straight razor blade to make into a custom straight, essential oil, a couple little samples of shave creams and cologne sample.
It's been on my radar for awhile. I hope you enjoy it immensely. And TSD Lanolin? That's like one of my Top 5 soaps. How did you know?!...
