The Haul: October 2018

I was lucky to win a drawing to try new bath soaps from Mad Yak Outfitters, which is owned and operated by Kevin who used to make Country Club for Men products. He has closed Country Club and moved away from shaving goods at the moment. He's making soaps and other personal care items in his new Mad Yak venture.

These soaps smell great! The scents I ended up with are Citrus and Cedar and Peppermint Tea Tree.

 

This one is a bit of a catch up...

As some of you in the 30DC may recall, I recently received a New Deluxe Tuckaway from a PIF on another forum.

Despite some initial blood, I hope to master this razor someday. I did feel sort of sorry for it, however, and put out some feelers to find a suitable case. A poster over on the same forum made me a good offer for a spare Tuckaway case that he had which needed some love:


The outside cleaned up fairly well though it will need to be relined.

The velour on the base definitely held up better than the satin on the top.

Lastly, I managed to talk down an eBay seller who was selling an NDC post-War Tech with "rare cover":


The result is something of a work-in-progress:


And, lest I forget, a Tech in pretty decent condition:

I got this awesome mega-haul today from a guy on TSD who was getting rid of stuff he was not using.
Eleven AutoStrops, four strops, AutoStrop blades, Feather blades, Gem 1924, Star 1912, Gem 1912, SE blades, three Christies, one Schick, five cases, an Edison, and an unknown SE razor.

 

Mega haul is right! Congrats, Jim!

My StarCraft brush from Phoenix Shaving came yesterday, the quailty of this brush is wonderful. First time with this knot, not sure if it's different from say the Tuxedo.

 

Just received a new soap from Dr. Jon's - Sunday Funday Extravaganza - Cold Fall Morning.
I'm going to break it in tomorrow morning.
