Thank you for your taking the time to respond. As soon as I finish some of my current soap inventory I will be placing an order.
You are most welcome and my apologies for this belated response of mine, work kept me busy the past few days.
I finally found a Rubberset 400 and I am very pleased with it. The knot is in excellent shape. I think all this thing needs is a good cleaning
So I got this lovely Culmak brush and Gillette style ball end razor in. But wait!...there's something strange about them. Here they are again, but with a Simpson's Wee Scot and Wee Scot Nano to give them perspective. Not familiar with the size of those brushes? Let's put a DE razor blade in the three piece razor... Look at that blade exposure! I think this little guy might be a tad bit aggressive. What do you guys think? Edit: I'm not even going to try to use the brush. It doesn't have animal hair in it, it has some sort of natural fiber, very soft and fine hairs. It's obviously a toy or display piece, and way too small for use. Edit 2: The razor is a "Laurel." Smallest functional DE safety razor made. Used blades 1/2" x 1" long.
My resistance lasted all of about thirty minutes. This thing lathers fine, though I wouldn't want to have to use it. Gave off a definite animal odor, though it's no hair I recognize. From the softness, it is probably goat hair.
Found a 1959 Gillette Fat Boy (E4) yesterday at one of the antique malls in my area. Cleaned up very nice, this one looked really good when I got it but it was the dirtiest soak water I've had so far! It beat out the Slim that was from a flea market. by a wide margin, yuck!!
Received this glass plate from the 1800's that was used to make a catalogue back in the days. Lying down flat on a solid surface it looks rather drab; ..but once held up against something illuminated it comes to life rather well; If one ever would make a print from it, it would look something like this: The only real challenge now is how to best display the negative....
I saw one of those razors in a complete kit with a package of razor blades. I thought it was a toy until opening the razor blades.
I bought one of these for a relative's 20th birthday today. He got a Muhle razor for Christmas and has been using the little brush out of the AOS sample kit since then. He needs an adult size brush at 20
Great looking razor! Amazing how much "stuff" can hide inside those. I had to take one apart once and physically scrub / scrape the insides. Good job!
