I decided to go look and ended up picking one up with a gutted handle for $17. The head is the good part right?
He's still with us. I'm paying respect to Gary, Gary has not only been a great friend to me but also to TSD. It also helps that his CT is Burma Shave
I stand admonished and apologize for any confusion. I did go to the dictionary and looked up "homage" and realized I was jumping to conclusions. I highly regarded Gary and frankly missed his posting this week. Sorry @GDCarrington if this has caused you any trouble. Thanks Kerry for the correction.
The wife and I took a ferry over to Port Townsend, WA today. I picked up two brushes. The black one is an Ever Ready 100T and the red one is a Mohawk 3-338, "made in Canada". They look pretty good right now, we'll see once I wash them use them if they're going to lose any chunks of hair. Also picked up a vintage Williams soap puck! I wonder if they'll send me the collectors mug for $4.95? (Ps,. The original price sticker on the soap is for 35ยข) Also, just a teaser pick for the straight razor guys... No I didn't buy any SR's.
I just went off the SE wagon after 26 days. I want d to try this thing so I did an evening shave. I put the Stahly head on a Weber Bulldog handle and loaded it with a Feather blade. I face lathered with a Palmolive shave stick using my TGN synthetic brush. This head deserves its nice reputation. Granted, this was my second shave today but I am BBS after two passes. I like it!
It gets even better after a couple of shaves with it as you dial it in. If I would ever make a personal top-ten razor head list the Stahly would be on that list.
Anyone have a working handle I could try at least once. The one I have coming I has been gutted. At least the head is in good shape and I only paid $17 for it.
We used to live in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Is. We now live in Mount Vernon but will be moving back to Oklahoma in about a month.
