Received a nice sized sample of Klar Kabinett from Jeff today. Thanks. Also picked up a new shotgun this week. My old Remington 1100 Skeet gun finally died on me. The frame cracked after close to a quarter million rounds through the gun. My pop shot it about 10k a year for close to two decades before he gave it to me 6 years ago. I shot it about the same and took it dove, Chukar, and small game a few times since I had it. My new gun is another Remington, a black synthetic Versa Max. It has similar ergonomics and making the transition much easier. I shot 83/100 on sporting clays and 94/100 on skeet today. http://www.remington.com/pages/Versa-Max.aspx
Sounds like they made it well. If you can get another 1/4 million rounds through it then I reckon it will be worth every penny. I miss my gun...got rid of it when I figured out my son doesn't do what he's told. S&W .40 wasn't great but it was accurate. Maybe when he gets a bit older and can be trusted to understand consequence I'll get the gun I want. Not sure exactly what but I am a fan of the 10 mm round.
A stock of "Gillette Wilkinson" blades showed up Friday from India. Off to the Flee market today, maybe some Gems to be had.
Not sure my shoulder will take another 250k rounds, but I am going to try. The .40s&w isn't a bad round, but ammo is a bit pricey. I only shot one 10mm though and it wasn't overly pleasant. It sucks that you had to get rid of it, but better safe then sorry. If a kid wants to get in something, they will figure a way to do so. I doubt a double padlocked case in a locked safe would be enough to keep one out.
Yeah, that is why I sold it. Enjoyed shooting it but had to think when I knew he wouldn't. Maybe soon though, he is 13 in a few months and has matured quite a bit in the last 8 years since I got rid of it. There are several gun shows in the area throughout the year, that is probably a cheap learning experience for us both. Him to see a bunch of cool guns and me to see how he acts.
Sounds like a good plan. It also could be a good opportunity to get him involved also. A 22 could be fun for both of you and a brick of shells costs less then a box of .40s&w.
Absolutely, that is what I had in mind. You never know when being able to hit what you are aiming at will come in handy. As far as the .22 goes, those things are fun fun fun! I'd love to get him into hitting the black with one of those and then once he figures out the responsibility get a good higher cal rifle and then a higher cal handgun. I did a bit of Googling and it seems that the 10 mm have fallen out of fancy a bit. That's fine though, .45s are good. I want a home protector so just having a .22 isn't my goal. I want to be able to stop a threat (night training and all) if need be.
Finally got a pic of the wonderful gift I received from Dale. Thanks again, Dale! I absolutely love it!
Snagged this Seaforth shave mug today at the flee market The second Seaforth in the collection now, same but different...
