Semi Pro: One of the better comedies I've seen lately. I hardly stopped laughing for a minute during the show. 4.5/5

There Will Be Blood: Very well acted by Daniel Day Lewis among others, but even with the great production values it was a hard story to watch. 3.5/5

hehe, I watched it a couple of months ago when it aired on the Sci-Fi channel. Boy was it bad... and who told Stephen Baldwin that he could act?

Speaking of bad shark movies, usually shown on the SciFi channel, last night I watched Spring Break Shark Attack. Bryan Brown was the "bad" guy .

    2/5 teeth

I checked out The Rocker last night. I was expecting some stupid teen, locker room, Adam Sandler-type flick. I thought it was actually pretty good. Funny, but not stupid humor. Pretty sweet sound track. Nice story. I liked it. Then again the main character is a drummer, and I want to come back as a drummer in my next life so there's that. :D

    4/5.

I watched Dragonball Evolution on the net couple nights ago. I am a big fan of the anime version. The movie, just missed the whole point.

I've been tearing through some of my Netflix stuff and catching up on movies I missed for various reasons.

    The Incredible Hulk > 3/5
So much potential wasted on dull pacing and mediocre CGI. Good fights though.

    Babylon AD > 3/5
It's a nice, brainless way to kill time. Sure it's a goofy plot, and Vin Diesel is in it, but it's got some redeeming qualities to it, and is worth a watch.

    Forgetting Sarah Marshall > 4/5
A lot funnier than I thought it would be. And Mila Kunis looks amazing in this movie.

    Speed Racer > 3.5/5
Visually beautiful. Really. Looks amazing on BluRay. I should really rate this movie two ways: when the cars aren't on screen it's a 3/5. When the cars are on screen, it's a solid 5/5. Yes, it's completely over the top, and yes it's cheesy as hell, but the racing scenes are entertaining as all hell.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno > 3/5
I'm a Kevin Smith fan, so I was looking forward to this one. It's not bad. There's some really funny parts, but there's also a lot of jokes that are either old or fall flat.

    The Rocker > 1/5
Let's see, where to start... how about not funny? Or not funny, or not entertaining, or not funny. Thirty minutes was about all I could take, and that was mostly because Emma Stone is hot. Unfortunately, that doesn't make this piece of crap watchable.

Saw The Hulk. An ok waste of time. The Incredible Hulk is on my list. I love Edward Norton and a good super hero story. Sarah Marshall is on my list too. The rest, not so urgent.

I saw Darkman. Boy that sucked! I remember it being much better when I saw it in the theater. I guess the standard was low back in the day. DM2 was much worse and DM3 looked like a it was made up of scrapes from DM2. I got the trilogy for $3.99. Can ya tell?!

I also got a cheap copy of The Matrix Trilogy. In the theaters, The Matrix was mind blowing. Reloaded was silly but could have been a descent set up for a great finale in form of Revolutions. I was sadly disappointed. On DVD, The Matrix holds up, but I had to keep reminding myself that it was the first time "bullet-time" was ever done. It's been done so much that it's become a dreary cliche. I skipped the follow ups and went straight to The Animatrix. I thought that was at least as good as, may be better than, the original. Made me pine for what the trilogy could have been.

I thought the Kxotic video was enjoyable and sweet. It also makes sense, because it shows how you SHOULDN'T place a DE.

Saw Doubt on DVD last night w/ Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep. Disturbing subject matter, but they don't focus on that so much as the battle of wills between the two characters. Based on a play so it's a slow drama, but the tension is palpable. Superb acting and beautiful cinematography. A very good movie worth checking out. It should have won some academy awards (or did it--I really didn't follow them?)

We had blockbuster online until recently....they keep changing it up on us and the last change where you had to turn the store rentals back in before they would mail out the new mail videos was the icing on the cake...so we dropped the service like a baby giraffe coming into this world!!!

unfortunately now I wont be seeing as many movies. as before...but thats ok I am still venting on blockbuster. looking at netflix.

Red Line.....LOVED IT!!!!.........Nadia Bjorlin!....nuff said. but ill throw in awesome cars.

the latest bond was well.....was it me or did the movie end in the middle.
seems like half a movie is still out there somewhere.

BUBBA HO-TEP!!!! w/ Bruce Cambell was the last movie i rented..hilarious.
A mummy who cant move fast chasing people in a nursing home..who also cant move fast. Elvis...and JFK.(who are both still alive) classic.

    Shep The Shep Abides

Caught The Reader on DVD last night. First let me just say Ray Fiennes is simply a superb actor though his screen time in this was limited. The first 3rd of this movie depicts a strange sexual affair between an older woman and a teenager. It moves on from that to the larger set up which I won't divulge. A fine movie based on an iconic German novel. A slow (er) paced drama so no big action sequence. Basically it is examining the German psyche of the second generation following WW2. I liked it a lot and between this and Doubt really don't understand how that Slumdog Millionaire won the Academy Award. Not that it was bad, but it didn't hold a candle to either of these two films. Guess that's why I'm not a member of the Academy; then again I also don't watch the awards show. <shrug>

Political mumbo jumbo aside it was a great movie. Josh Brolin pulled it off well.

Here is the funny part, that movie was a remake of a remake, kind of like I Am Legend (read the book folks all the movies sucked).

  19. Shep

    Shep The Shep Abides

Caught Taken w/ Liam Neeson last night on DVD. Pretty average. It will appeal to your "revenge" instinct a la the Death Wish series. Other than that it was a fairly childish script w/ the actors playing caricatures of real humans. Particularly the 17 year old girl who ran around behaving like she was 6 during most of her scenes. And the violence was unrealistic and unbelievable much like a James Bond or Chuck Norris type flick. All in all probably worth a rental to kill time, but nothing you will remember a year from now. 2.5/5.
