Those are some nice razors there! I love my long comb. I also have a Hydromagic, but not as nice as yours.
@Mbg75 , what kind of plating finish did you use, nickel? Also did you open the razor to replate? Just curious. Looks fantastic!
Hello all, I just got this New Belmont Deluxe in the mail today. It's case and liner were pretty trashed. I forgot to take before photos, but I did take several after I disassembled the case. Here's the first photos- And here's the finished project. It is far from perfect, but at least the razor will be sitting on fresh velvet. Thanks for your interest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You are welcome. Thank you for sharing your project. A couple follow up questions; What did you use to polish the box? Is it chrome or silver?
Hello, well the box is gold plated, and although I don't recommend it for gold plate, I polished it with Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. Normally I would polish gold razors and cases with Simichrome metal polish, but this case has a few black spots that needed a more aggressive polish. I will polish the razor with Simichrome since it is less granular than the Mothers. I hope this answers your questions. Thanks for your interest, and have a great day!
I bought this off eBay and to be honest it was disgusting. There was old soap caked all over it, the cap barely moved and the handle was spotted with green. On a whim I decided to use the bead blaster at work to see what it could look like. I'm extremely happy with the results, it has a matte brass finish that's hard to describe but completely different from my other 1912. My initial plan was to polish it but I think I'll leave it like it is. I'm contemplating doing this to my Schick E3.
