Well stated. Is clay also for sebum control or what do you know about it? I only knew it made soap slick under the razor.
Here's a brief vid that describes one of the uses of the clay for eczema (dryness): The clay is also supposed to be good for excessively oily skin as well (ironic, no?)...
Some really old people in the south eat white clay as purgative, body cleanser kind of thing. Clay seems like it might just help open the skin and allow the body to move toward equilibrium. I like natural medicine apps. Cool stuff! Gonna watch now.
I sent the Soap Exchange an email with an extended version of my review. I told them of the problems I encountered and they were very grateful. They sent an email back (almost immediately) indicating that they are new to the shave soap scene and ready to re formulate their soaps in order to improve their performance. I realize that the soap wasn't perfect and that the clay may have saved my first shave but I am willing to help them grow and better themselves. Moreover, I am more than willing to give them a few more chances seeing that their attitude is so positive and they are willing to listen to their customers. They have excellent customer service and that goes a long way with me. As I told the Soap Exchange, the scents I have tried are wonderful. Think of this as a horse race, they just left the gates...give them a chance to run the race.
The first batches of shave soap were not quite right. Amanda is reformulating and will have new samples ready next week. I tried Barbershop soap and it simply was not capable of loading "too much" and the lather didn't last from one side of the face to the next. TSE is working on it. I am glad to see a new artisan giving it a try. From my perspective, I'm glad to not see over mentholated madness. I don't like that smelly stuff.
Looks like they took the shave soaps down. The regular soaps and scents look interesting, I would have given the shave soap a try and maybe got a few bars of other soaps.
Just wanted to let those 5 of you doing testing for me know that I sent an email to each of you and mailed packages out today. -Amanda
Just read the same email...I am excited to help them and hole their product is indeed new and much improved.
@TheSoapExchange I got the two prototypes. I have cured them until today. I will test and post tomorrow, Good Lord willing. Soap quest got a little backed up, I had a bunch in line, but now you are up next! Thanks for your customer service and allowing us to be a part of your R&D.
@Bama Samurai @Derhey @Troy M @LifesShort and I know I'm missing someone else from this thread. We didn't forget about you guys. I know it's been awhile. Based on all of your initial feedback, we scratched everything and started new. By the time it was all said and done, we had over 150 people (Men and women) testing for us. In late April we finally found our new formula and spent the next couple of months producing for our wholesale clients and getting more feedback while we continued to tweak the recipe. We finally launched our new formula and we have been busy sending out Thank you boxes to ALL of our testers, including you guys! You should be receiving them sometime next week. I know you all weren't part of the final testing phase, so I hope you really like the final product. As always feedback (good and bad) is appreciated, as we will continue to tweak and edit our formulas when necessary. Thanks again guys! Amanda
@TheSoapExchange Thanks Amanda! When you pulled the early version I did not post a review as it would not have mattered. I very much look forward to the new formula! Best of luck with your new soaps!
no worries @Bama Samurai , our focus at that time was just listening to feedback and finding a starting place. We've started getting in good reviews on our site from other testers who received their boxes this week, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you all approve too Thanks again!
Thanks Amanda! I am excited to try your new formula. It's awesome that you are so open to feedback and I appreciate you allowing me to be one of your "testers". Thanks again.
FYI, we just got our How-To cards back from the printer, so they were not included in your boxes. I'm sure all the guys here to know how to build lather, but when we were testing we ran into quite a few that didn't know, so we made these to go with our soaps specifically...
