Last shave of the month for Stirling September. Had a bottle of the new Scots Pine Aftershave waiting for me when I got home this week. It is just awesome. The scent is an almost perfect match to the soap right out of the bottle, pure clean pine, but it dries down really rapidly, the pine fades, and it becomes a very mild, clean scent. It almost reminds me of Proraso green after the dry down, but think a hint of pine instead of eucalyptus. This is an aftershave that would compliment the experience of most outdoorsy, woodsy type soaps, and be very workplace appropriate for people who have to consider that factor. As far as Stirling scents, I could see it being a great finish to shaves with: -Scots Pine (duh) -Ozark Mountain -Coniferous -Autumn Glory -Green -Gin and Tonic I may break mine up and mentholate half of it. It is said that scents can bring up such vivid memories, and I know that when I M-Bomb the soap, I get hammered with a memory of deer hunting on one specific day, maybe twenty years ago, and walking through a stand of Balsam Fir trees that were snow covered. I can still feel the snow getting brushed from the branches, and falling down the back of my neck. I do not know how I could better describe the scent.
There's a Stirling thread on the Gut Rasiert.de forum but it's nowhere near as big as this one. It's only for discussing the shaving soaps. I feel like starting one on the Greek Men Only forum and the Russian Britva forum. I don't know how successful it would be, though. On that note I really enjoyed the shave I had with the Electric Sheep this morning. It's a brand-new container and did that lather ever overflow. I definitely loaded too much on my brush. Tomorrow I'm going to get a good freeze from the Frozen Tundra!
As a bit of empirical trivia, when I visit a number of BST threads, Stirling is the least resold soap product. Which I suspect speaks to the quality of the product and the customer satisfaction
Used Stirling Bonaparte today. It was a good spicy scent, but I think I already have enough scents that smell roughly the same. Id be down to trade or sell it if any of yall are interested.
The Frozen Tundra soap felt so bloody cold this morning - wow, don't underestimate this stuff's menthol power because it's capable of freezing a man's face off. The scent definitely has wintergreen notes to it along with peppermint and outdoorish tones. I think it's beautiful.
Wasnt sure if that was against the rules or not. SharptoothC has dibs on it right now, but ill PM you if it doesnt work out. I think im going to go with Ozark Mountain today. One of my favorite scents that Rod makes
Stirling is a "must try". Throw out some soaps you're looking to trade and what kind of scents you and maybe one of us can probably offer up something. Your other option is to go to the website and order a few samples. They are $3 and contain a full ounce (which is like a quarter to s fifth of a tub of most soaps). A few samples should give you months of shaves. Either way, just mention what kind of scents you like and I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction.
First what I have to Offer. ( Not much ) St James 95% full used once or twice. XX used once 99% full. Like I said I don’t have much. Also have a few Arko and Williams. Nothing special. Kinda leaning towards. Black cherry. Executive Man. Hot Apple Cider. Sharp Dressed Man. Black Ice. Barbershop. Red Delicious. A Man Can Always Dream. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As if today's shave wasn't cold enough (oh it was!) tomorrow's will be a hell of a lot colder! Glacial Black Cherry!
I remember when this thread started. I was so stoked to have a dedicated thread. Thank you all for keeping this alive for so long.
It's nice to see that some of these threads have been long ongoing, and this one certainly deserves to be.
