In the Max Headroom household, it is unlikely for The Lovely Mrs Headroom to find herself in the position of being expected to wash HER hands with spitbacked soap that made her draw pictures of me licking ashtrays. As long as I can avoid a scent carryover, why not........
I need to order some Sandpiper, and Sandalwood, shave and bath soaps. Clayton Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Today, I am unable to continue my 'use it up' plan for soap not making the cut while The Lovely Mrs Headroom is out of town. The great review of Sandpiper by @Bobcat and the following by @PLAla and others was too much peer pressure for me to resist. The Sandpiper came out of the lineup to pinch hit today. And hit it did! I've been testing the Focus Dynamic Razor which I prefer a lather 'just over to sloshy'. Like all the Stirling soaps, it held up and stayed slick. I'll describe the scent as clean, light, somewhat floral, but not girly. I've already got a plaque over a stall in my corral for this horse, and next Stirling order is gonna bring in the whole family. The mildness of the Dynamic razor has allowed me to dial back on the post shave routine. I did not need to, but I gave the Unscented Glacial Balm a spin. Really nice feel, no conflict with the Sandpiper scent. This one is gonna give the house favorite (Proraso Green Balm) a run for the top slot. I slapped on some Aqua Velva Ice Blue (I really like an alcohol containing AS) and didn't sense a conflict there either. We will see, but Sandpiper could go to the top of my list of flavors. I dare say, it could deliver me from my Brut tunnel vision. Good day my friends
Well Edison, your post gave me a nudge to fetch my Sandpiper from the den. I offered it to my wife for consideration, and after a sniff she declared “not bad.” I’m on vacation now, so I plan to shave every other day. But I guess Sandpiper needs to help welcome in Spring.
I think Sandpiper could work as a year-rounder. Doc Ezlovan or others here might have more comments about that observation.
I did not check if that was listed as seasonal, if so I'll want to get my test drives going on AS, Bath soap, shampoo soap so I don't gotta wait a season out. Thanks for bringing it up.
vacation......"not bad". hmmm? While my life is clearly in the safety in the safety zone in these matters, if you find yourself looking to fill the vacancy for godfather, I nominate @Bobcat as enabler with the first right of refusal. I can cop a plea as an accomplice, but no more. And I'll gladly serve as godfather alternate. Oh, and while I think of it, I can recommend one fragrance whose second calling in my life could have been birth control. Enjoy the time off!
A follow-up check shows Sandpiper as 'Standard Line' fragrance. Shampoo not available yet. Which reminds me, I got very good Stirling Bath Soap reviews from that awesome road warrior, The Lovely Mrs Headroom. It's probably been 30 years since she converted to body wash. She has grown find of using those bath puffy things and says it works great on her soap. Glad I made her a co-conspirator on soap acquisitions. I do owe a report on the Executive Man shampoo bar. I'll try and get to it.
It was Stirling Sunday at the Headroom household. - Executive Man Theme Stirling Executive Man Shampoo Bar - I have used a shampoo/conditioner (like pert) for over 30 years. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a shampoo bar. It only takes rubbing a little in the hair to work up plenty if a nice refreshing lather. Leaves hair squeaky clean. product moves to longer term evaluation category. Stirling Executive Man Bath Soap - The sample of this soap that Stirling included in my first order convinced me to test it further. Still great. Since my favorite soap for the last 40 years was reformulated, I have been in the market for a replacement. With the way the Stirling bath soap and shampoo have shown up, MegaLever & Profit or Gamble might wanna look over their shoulder. Noxzema Classic (pre-shave) - I'm continuing to use this while I'm in tooling evaluations. Frankly, Stirling Shave Soap works well enough for me to drop this pre-shave step when this tub gives up the ghost. Cold Water Stirling Executive Man Shaving Soap - well everybody knows how great this is already. The Focus Dynamic 1/2 DE, Feather day2 - delivered maybe the closest irritation free shaves of my life. 2 small snag spots with the cotton ball. Pretty sure first time I get BBS it'll be with this tooling. Splash of Unscented Thayers Witch Hazel - Great toning sensation Stirling Executive Man w/menthol AS splash - just today, I started picking up the nice cooling sensation of this AS. I've been able to drop AS balm, maybe that's why. Nice and cool. Good day my friends .
Today is Spring-ish, but I was still in the mood for something warm. I decided to break out the tub of Agar. I’m on vacation, so other than little boy and wife noises, I was able to get into the “zone” using a skuttle, Simpson Classic 1 Best badger, and a Merkur 1904 open comb. Two and a half passes later I washed off a BBS shave and splashed on a 50/50 mix of Lucky Tiger and Osage Rub. The funny part came as my wife walked by (remember the noise?) and asked “what smells like mold?!” If I’m honest with myself, I don’t think Oud is a scent I’m wild about either. It’s earthy and masculine, but I could live without it and not have a broken heart. Maybe it’ll grow on me but I probably won’t give it a chance to. ...........too many other great scents to enjoy.
I'm going to face your problem on Thursday-supposed to hit 60 here, but I have a wintry soap&A.S. in line for that day. I'll have to see how I feel. If I do change to a "cooler" soap, it may be necessary to use Stoylin Sandpiper A.S. with it.
