I enjoyed Margaritas in the Arctic today. I have a small amount that I got from the last soap pass-around. I'm tempted to buy another one or perhaps a different mentholated soap. Orange Chill is a possibility. Black Ice and Frozen Tundra don't sound all that appealing to me. Was Iced Pineapple a special run? I don't see it on the website.
I bought Orange Chill a couple months ago. It really does have the same scent as when you peel a fresh orange. I'm not big on menthol soaps, especially during the winter. I wish I could have Orange Chill without the chill.
Don't know how you feel about lime, but his Lime is straight up zested limes and no chill. It's the only unmentholated citrus he has running right now. The old Lemony Orange was the best citrus I ever, EVER smelled, but it didn't sell as well so it was shelved. Maybe someday.
Also Pharoah's Dreamsicle is also largely orange scented with some sweet musk. I would think this would be included in the citrus family of non mentholated soaps.
Sheep soaps, without a doubt. Not even close. I get such dry skin in the winter, and using these soaps makes a night and day difference over anything else. I could not say I recognize a difference in the others, except any of the mentholated soaps have a drying effect that is noticeable. Easily repaired with balm, but it is there.
Jared, I believe Gin and Tonic would count as a non-mentholated citrus as well- has lemon and lime with juniper
Yes. When I wrote that, I was really trying to refer to the straight up citrus :Lime, lemon, orange scents, not just scents with a healthy citrus top note. It was more of a response to the good Colonel's lament about the menthol in the orange. Not disagreeing with you; the Gin and Tonic is a favorite.
I had one of the shiniest and best lathers of recent memory today with MITA. I loaded and slowly added water adding water two or three times more than I would normally do. Beautiful, rich, shiny, amazing lather.
Lime is good - I'll have to try it. I have a couple other citrus soaps - TOBS Grapefruit and AOS Lemon. I enjoy both and neither have menthol.
I find Frozen Tundra to be a pretty good scent. It has some Wintergreen and a little woodsy type of scent going on. It is not as I would have imagined when I bought it, but it does have a cold, outdoors type of scent.
As you'll note from the SOTD page, I decided to do the Stirling Barbershop shave tomorrow. I was going to wait until Wednesday, but it'll be too warm that day for my liking. I expect to return to the Stirlingsoap Thurs-Sun.. So I'll still have 5 shaves with it before moving it back to the rear of the bus(i.e. my rotation ).
Frozen Tundra's scent is kind of complex, but I agree that there's some wintergreen to it. I believe it's also the second coldest soap after the Glacials.
A question for you, @ezlovan. I got my Barbershop soap from "PIF" from a generous fellow member here. May I still write a review of it on your website?
