Gillette Facial Wash Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/new Wilkinson Sword Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill SS Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill ASB Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill AS Splash Christian Dior Eau Sauvage EdT Ahhhhhhh, fresh tangy lemon with tons and tons of frigidly cold menthol, magnificent rich, thick, super slick, protective lather, my eyes were tearing a little from the menthol fumes, but the postshave feeling was so soothing as well as comfortable. The matching balm and aftershave were a perfect finish. Finally the lovely Eau Sauvage fragrance and my weekend is off to a great start. I've recently received 5 samples from Stirling and started today with the Piacenza. I've heard so much about the smoothness of their shave soaps and I would have to agree. This past week I actually started tracking what I've been using, pre-, during and post-shave, so I can eliminate variables leading to inconsistent results. The only variable I'm not concerned with is the soap. I have MWF, 1966 and now Piacenza in the rotation. Any recommendations for a soap that would be well suited to rainy and cool western Oregon during the winter months? Thanks for any thoughts... Enjoy the ride, Jay
Menthol Monday: A lulu of a Grand Freeze! Warm shower Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Wilkinson Sword day 10 Stirling Glacial Obsidian SS Bundubeard Stoffel ASB Noble Otter Northern Elixir AS Splash Calvin Klein Obsession Deodorant Stick Calvin Klein Obsession EdT This setup is not for the faint of heart because it’s bloody FRIGID. The Glacial Obsidian soap’s black licorice scent is so delightful, I had tons of rich, super slick, cushiony lather, the menthol sensation pummelled my face right from the get go, and the postshave feeling was wonderful. The Stoffel balm from Bundubeard has such a nice peppermint scent, and it’s so soothing as well as icy cold, and the Northern Elixir aftershave is another bona fide menthol atom bomb - its scent is also great. Last but not least the super nice Obsession fragrance and I’m ready to enjoy another relaxing day of retirement. Thursday morning’s Grand Freeze: L’Oréal Men Expert Facial Wash Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Bic day 8 Stirling Glacial Iceberg Island SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Stirling Glacial Iceberg Island AS Splash Not only are this Glacial Iceberg Island soap and aftershave ever frigid, they smell GORGEOUS. The scent is a carbon copy of Creed Virgin Island Water which I had some years back and I loved it. This soap lathers like a maniac, the menthol sensation is killer cold, and the postshave feeling is awesome. The Gold Bond moisturizer has plenty of menthol in it too and it’s so soothing. Finally a couple of splashes of the Glacial Iceberg Island aftershave and my face is frozen stiff not to mention how sexy I smell and how beautiful I look. (According to my lovely wife!) Wednesday morning’s Grand Freeze: Quick shower Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Bic day 13 Stirling Glacial Electric Sheep SS Bundubeard Stoffel ASB Floid Vigoroso AS Splash Calvin Klein Obsession EdT Oh my goodness did I ever freeze my bloody face off - the Glacial Electric Sheep did a helluva number on me. The scent (to me) is nice, the lather is awesome, the menthol sensation is insane, and the postshave feeling is wonderful. The Stoffel balm is also a bona fide iceberg with lots of soothing as well as moisturizing, and the Floid Vigoroso aftershave packs a strong menthol punch. Finally a little of the Obsession fragrance and that’s it, that’s all. Another super duper three pass BBS shave that I enjoyed immensely! Happy Thanksgiving Day my friends! Menthol Monday’s Grand Freeze: Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Bic day 5 Stirling Glacial Iceberg Island SS Bundubeard Stoffel ASB Stirling Glacial Iceberg Island AS Splash Holy Toledo, I pity anyone who can’t handle such intense menthol because this Glacial Iceberg Island soap and aftershave are BLOODY COLD. The scent is gorgeous - it’s just about an exact copy of the Virgin Island Water fragrance from Creed, the soap lathers magnificently, it’s got the typical Stirling slickness, and the postshave care is perfect. The Stoffel balm is another menthol atom bomb with such a nice peppermint scent as well as lots of soothing and moisturizing. Finally the Glacial Iceberg Island aftershave added another coating of icicles into my face along with its lovely scent that has great staying power. What a delightful three pass BBS shave this was! Menthol Monday’s Grand Freeze: Long hot shower Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Bic day 12 Stirling Glacial Mango Sunrise SS Bundubeard Stoffel ASB Noble Otter Northern Elixir AS Splash My face is so frozen from this setup - the Glacial Mango Sunrise soap not only lathers great and freezes like Siberia in midwinter it smells so beautiful. The Stoffel balm from Bundubeard has a wonderful peppermint scent, it’s icy cold, and it’s so soothing. Finally the Northern Elixir aftershave went on frigidly with its nice peppermint/eucalyptus scent. I couldn’t for a better shave - three passes did the job for me! Wishing you all a good week ahead! Wow, did it ever freeze my face to smithereens - the scent is so awesome, (to me!) it lathered superbly, and its mutton tallow formula promotes such wonderful postshave care. The Gold Bond moisturizer works so well as a balm, and the Floid Vigoroso aftershave’s beautiful old school European scent is a top favourite of mine not to mention how frigid it is. Menthol Monday’s Grand Freeze: Hot shower Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Junjie/Wilkinson day 13 Stirling Glacial Strawberry Lemonade SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Stirling Glacial Strawberry Lemonade AS Splash If a setup like this doesn’t freeze your face off then nothing will - man alive, this Glacial Strawberry Lemonade soap and aftershave are loaded to the brim with lethally cold menthol. The scent is so delightful - the strawberry seems to be a bit more dominant but the lemony notes are there too, the soap provided more than enough lather for two guys to shave with, and the postshave feeling was so soothing as well as comfortable. The Gold Bond moisturizer has no shortage of menthol either, and it gives great protection from dryness, and the Glacial Strawberry Lemonade aftershave went on frigidly cold along with its beautiful scent that lasts all day. Hot shower Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Wilkinson day 6 Stirling Glacial Cedar SS Bundubeard Stoffel ASB Stirling Glacial Cedar AS Splash An hour or so was when I shaved and I can still feel a cold tingle on my face - the Glacial Cedar soap and aftershave did one helluva number on me. The scent is so beautiful, the soap provided tons of awesome lather that was so thick, rich, mega slick and protective, the menthol sensation felt borderline painful, (in a good way of course!) not to mention how comfortable the postshave feeling was. The Stoffel balm is so moisturizing as well as soothing, it’s also icy cold, and the Glacial Cedar aftershave went on frigidly cold. I transplanted the Wilkinson blade into my Super Speed because the Junjie was too harsh yesterday and the results were a wonderful three pass BBS with no issues whatsoever! The scent of this Glacial Citron is so beautiful - lemon, lime, and a little grapefruit all come together to make it so refreshing. The soap is a tallow based lather monster with such awesome slickness, the menthol sensation hits like a ton of bitterly cold bricks, and the postshave feeling is wonderful. The Stoffel balm is also a bona fide face freezer with a very nice peppermint scent, and it gives lots of soothing as well as moisturizing. The Glacial Citron aftershave seems to pair so well with the Eau Sauvage fragrance. Three passes did me proud - such a terrific BBS shave despite the blade getting duller. Saturday morning’s Grand Freeze: Quick shower Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Wilkinson day 4 Stirling Frozen Tundra SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Noble Otter Northern Elixir AS Splash This morning the Frozen Tundra felt so bloody cold that I thought I was shaving with a Glacial soap - this stuff is actually one small step lower than the Glacials. The scent is so beautiful - it’s got wintergreen, peppermint, and earthy notes to it, the lather is AWESOME, it’s so slick, the menthol pummelled my face non stop, and the postshave feeling was wonderful. The Gold Bond moisturizer is also very chilly as well as soothing, and the Northern Elixir aftershave smells great - it’s a blend of eucalyptus and peppermint not to mention how frigid it is. Sunday morning’s Grand Freeze: Quick shower Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole Super Speed/Wilkinson day 12 Stirling Glacial Obsidian SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Osage Rub AS Splash Versace Dreamer EdT Lots of icicles in my face today - the Glacial Obsidian soap froze me to smithereens. I love its black licorice scent, it gave me tons of awesome lather with lots of slickness, and the postshave feeling was wonderful like ALL of Rod’s fantastic soaps. The Gold Bond moisturizer works so well as a balm, and the Rubby Dubby Doo worked its frigid magic. Last but not least the lovely Dreamer fragrance which was a gift from my wife’s cousin.
