Waste not want not, (I'll never waste a Glacial soap and I always want one!) I transplanted the last of my ET soap into a brand new container from last year. I'm good to go for tomorrow morning!
Wow, I must've gotten a different batch. My Ozark Mountain aftershave just smells like saffron to me. It's an interesting scent but I had to do a search to see if saffron was related to the Ozarks somehow.
Unless it's my imagination when I was lathering up with the new Glacial Eskimo soap from last summer, I could swear that it seemed even COLDER than the previous one I had finished. If that's the case, and I think it is the Cryogen soap has been dethroned. This bowl has very much of the SDM scent, the lather is perfect, and so is the skincare. Once again, this soap is a menthol atom bomb!
Nice shave with Dunshire soap and splash this morning. Beautiful scent and the lather was top-notch as always. Love Stirling! The Pharoah's Dreamsicle that I bought used will be arriving soon. I'm intrigued by it. Also, @dustmite sent me a little sample of Ben Franklin to try out. TSD is a great community!
Anybody know how long a soap should go before it "loses its scent"? I bought a shave den with some used Stirling soaps and found them to have very little scent. Some of the soaps in the pass-around also were not super strong. However, the ones I bought direct from Stirling have very strong (and excellent) scents. Anyone experience this other than me and/or know the length of time before you experience "scent degradation"?
It can and does happen, but it takes years. Usually at least 3-7 years in my experience. It has to do with many factors, but original strength of scent, fragrance oils vs. essential oils, % of oil base, soap ingredients, open air and light, and a few others all contribute.
For some reason I had a change of mind and I went with the Glacial Lemon Chill soap. No regrets at all - it was most enjoyable as well as bitterly cold. I know some guys may disagree, but even from this soap I find the menthol effect surpasses the Cryogen. The Lemon Chill witch hazel is downright frigid and the scent pairs perfectly with YSL Pour Homme.
For tomorrow it'll be the Barbershop soap. Do I ever love the scent as well as the lather. I wonder if I could ask Rod to make a Florida Water scented soap.
I asked about a FW clone awhile back, and Rod said he was just too busy to do it. If they ever DO come up with one, I'd probably get a few tubs, and if by chance a Glacial, I'd probably drop a paycheck and get a lifetime supply!
I shaved with my "lil brudder" today. I have it lined up for my next soap shave, too(I don't use the same brush two days in a row).
I just noticed that there is no more stock of Gin and Tonic on the Rocks. Any idea when there will be more stock? Sent from my SM-G928T using Tapatalk
Oh, it's nothing against the scents..I'm enjoying the Barbershop currently a,s well as the Sandpiper aftershave, and expect to get more scented shaves...I just like what I read about the unscented ones, too...would give me more flexibility for aftershaves.
I have one in transit to me. It's part of a birthday gift from Madame. Could that one have been the last of the stock?
