Kiebitz "125" Garantie Gebr. Emde Solingen-Weyer 5/8+inch Full Hollow This one I lucked into. It looked "OK", from the photo, so I took a risk, and paid little for it. When it arrived, I found it to be NOS, with the factory edge on it, and the factory grease still on the blade. It was very sharp, but not shave ready. I did about 20 laps on the CroX, 50 Linen, and 50 leather. It now is popping hairs, root in and out, down the entire edge. I will do another 50 or so, on the leather, before I do any shave with it. BTW, the dark spots, on the blade, are just shadows. There isn't a blemish anywhere on this razor. Anyone have info, on this brand?? I bought it from France. Oh, interesting fact. Kiebitz- German translation is a "Lapwing" marsh bird.
I think most of what I asked was answered by @TestDepth . I forgot i took a Frankenrazor apart, and put the scales with another blade I had.
Dorko I missed this one by 3 dollars. I sure hope someone here snagged it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Sh...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 ..
2nd place (1st Loser ) for me... it is a beauty. now is about when I expect Mike @M14Shooter to say he got it. I hope he did.
Haaaaa!!!! You missed a beautiful Dorko razor, by $1 ???? That's three time worse than me, on that bid. ..
It was not me .I have been very good lately .The only thing I bought this month was a Vintage Boker made in the mid 1930's
So had to comfort myself after missing out on that Dorko ... Actually, this maker has been on “the list” for a long while, and I had figured I missed out since I don’t think any new razors have been built in a few years. But I got lucky and found this one... really like the design and detail! Joe Chandler... 13/16’ish, 1/4 hollow with 3 pin synthetic scales. I see a little Heljestrand influence in the tang/heel, and I’m a sucker for that. Here is a shot of the grind: Did I say I love the detail of the tang??? Even the cool little doodad inside for the 3rd pin. I would like to blame @Briscoe for this, but a Chandler has been a desire for some time... though he does have a beautiful one that kept the fire stoked. Happy hunting. Tom
I will take the blame! Beautiful razor Tom, you will be correct about no new razors from Joe. You will enjoy this razor and will be in your regular rotation. When my wife ask me about my next purchase, I will tell her it’s your fault! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Love the looks of the Joe Chandler..Well done ! Your SAD Straight Acquisition Disorder has been diagnosed. You made it too level 10 on a scale of 1-10
Thanks guys! His mirror finish is just perfect. I had heard that, but it is impressive to see up close. And Mike (@M14Shooter), I may have even reached 11... just don’t tell my wife .
Filarmonica Sub Cero 14 This has been on my wish list for several years, at a reasonable price I pulled the trigger to acquire this razor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
