    I figure it is around 1820 or so. It was sold in scales described as pressed “baleen,” which looks to be very similar to horn, but made from baleen bristles of a whale.

    These scales have “John Bull” and his likeness on this side. John Bull is an imaginary figure who is a personification of England, similar to America’s Uncle Sam.

    On the backside I see “Wellington,” and what I presume to be the Duke of Wellington.

    Pretty small razor, coming in around 5” in length folded. But a pretty cool surviving piece of history.
