Received new Wacker Classic 2. Like @Billyfergie said, some are asking silly high prices. eBay has a BIN for $355 + shipping. Amazon is $265. I was sweating my $100 offer for this one. Thought it might be a candidate for the thread about the razor that slipped through my fingers. Any who: This thing is absolutely flawless. The blonde horn scales are just gorgeous. The fella had it professionally honed, and it’s popping arm hair. Carefully examined, took pics, oiled the blade, and being wrapped by momma for Christmas.
I am a fan of Wacker razors and that was a steal IMHO! Enjoy that shave... after Christmas of course.
Thanks! I’m kinda surprised one of the other watchers didn’t hit the bin button. I’m kinda surprised I didn’t
My Thuringian Stone Arrived Today..Its a Dark Blue Stone & Feels Smoother to Touch than My Escher Thuri Next to it..So..I Reckon it Maybe a Slower Cutter..My Escher Thuri has a Finishing Capacity of 16 K 0r Maybe 16 K +..If this Newly Acquired Stone Can Look Near it I Will Be Delighted..It Looks Hardly Used & Just Been Knocked about I Reckon.. It has a Chip or Two on the Edge So I have Ordered Some 80 & 220 Grit Silicone Carbide to Lap it Out With..I Will Lap it to 1000 Grit with Wet n Dry After I Take the Chip Out with the Silicone Carbide.. Billy..
Help on this one. John Heiffor From what I can tell it is from 1850’s? Also scored my first Coti. It is a bit small 1-1/4”x5”. Any info on the straight would be greatly appreciated. Are the scales Tortoise? Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
That Size is Fine Tom..Unless Ya are In Ta One Stone Honing Kinda Stuff it Maybe Slower..As a Finisher it will be Just Dandy.. Billy..
Haha. No one stone for me. Just wanted a finisher. The straight somebody killed the edge. I will have a job getting a bevel set. Looking at the tang more I am thinking it may be as early as the 1920-30 range. There are no maker marks other than his name. Now to start setting a bevel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
I Can Only Speak of My Own Coti So Bear that in Mind..I Use Water..No Slurry..Then I Use Tallow Lather..A Cella Type Tallow Soap..I Use Vitos..Not the Modern Pseudo Tallow Soaps..I Add Some Glycerin to the Soap..My Stone will Pick the Edge Up around 2 K Using that Method to Finish..So..Its Worth Experimenting with them at the Finishing Stage I Reckon..Great to Learn the Stone & Play with an Open Mind.. Billy..
A few collected in my mailbox, while out of town. Wostenholm & Sons. Bone scales. EBRO Sheffield. Anyone know anything about EBRO made razors???
Yes. I saw this too. I also spotted a John Heiffor from starting around 1822. The tail indicates the earlier guy. The Blade is a near wedge. Too bad some numbskull killed the edge. They left me a nice 1/32 flat to hone out. Working with my 220 stone to get close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
