You would know better than me, my friend! I’m fortunate to know folk like you to help keep me on the correct path!
Shocking! They want $250 for this damaged razor! I am amazed at what people try to sell. I would not be able to bring myself to sell something so bad! Chipped up blade. Or am I missing something? That blade is destroyed! Am I correct?
Looking forward to getting this MK32 from the Sandpoint Razor Spa and Beauty Resort (aka @gssixgun). Glen put on some new ivory shoes, honed it up, and evened out the edge Karl
…and, while not new to the den this lovely Tuckmar also got some new shoes and a new wedge and is ready to step out. Before: After: Can’t wait to try the new arrivals out
Glen (@gssixgun) is a master, Karl, as we all know. He dressed up a 205 yr old NOS 8/8 Stubtail blade for me. Here are his completed photos! The amber wedge blew me away!
My first straight razor! Gold Dollar 6/8 (used) gotten for 5 bucks. Edge looks good. I have a strop and 12000 stone & holder coming. Also chromium oxide stick.
And 2 of the $10 razors came today. Blades look good. Scales are so-so. One has loose scales. Must be careful with that one! This one is nice but, the scales show long use. I have no idea what the date is on this one.
And the other one. It's a Jones MFG "Higrade" Blade looks better in person. Hard to photograph. No nicks or major corrosion. Edge looks good with no nicks or missing chunks on either razor.
I will need to get much more proficient before using that blade though due to the nose of the blade being square. They are both 5/8 width according to my measurement
If you need a good benchmark, send it to Glen Mercurio for a professional honing! Ask for stupid sharp!
Could you message me his info? I stropped the Gold Dollar and it cleaned up the edge. It will shave arm hairs but, not mid-hair. It needs honing. All of them do.
Actually, having them honed by a professional honemeister like Glen will give you a great benchmark to judge your own honing efforts! I’ll PM you Glen’s info!
