A marriage of a H.C. Wentworth and a Joseph Rodgers… Wentworth (1909-1913) for the blade and the Rodgers for the scales. The Rodgers was a 4/8, so not many blades would fit, but this Wentworth did fine. I doubt I will ever be comfortable pinning ivory collarless, but the pivot (my work) is decently close to the wedge (original). Breathing easier. Happy hunting. Tom
Fairly nice CVH arrived late today, moderate wear but very clean and with natural scales. A good user frameback and pretty.
L Wilder & Sons "Victor Razor" Germany 13/16th Extra Hollow Ground This looks pretty bad, but I scored it for $4.25. I was looking for a sad looking razor, to restore. The Bone scales are scary looking, but should look good when I finish. The blade has a lot of rust, and it will be interesting to see what come of it. Wish me luck.
Marshes & Shepherd Pond Works Sheffield England 6/8+ inches I just liked the looks, and the age of this blade. It should be from around the 1820's. I have not seen many of this maker, and none with this blade shape. The blade looks pretty sound, and will require minimal restoration. But, the scales are homemade wood. I cannot decide if I should keep the scales, or restore them. I'm kind of digging the whole handmade scales, and old type nails to hold it all together.
A Rather Nice ..Bright & Clean, GOTTA 120.., Its a 5/8th..Marked SUPER FINE, HAMBURG RING. Been Looking for One for Sometime..Chuffed to Bits.. Billy..
"Chuffed to bits" -- it was all scuffed up and pretty much destroyed? But... but.. but... in the picture it looked like it was in GREAT condition! Something's awry here. So I googled. "Chuffed to bits" means "very happy or pleased," primarily heard in UK. Huh! I learn new stuff in the Shave Den all the time!!! Why, I'm downright chuffed to bits to expand my vocabulary! - Bax
