I've heard nothing but great things, I didn't think they'd make anything horrible given their artisan nature!! I'm extremely stoked to get a hold of those two!
‘White’ in Japanese razor steel terms usually means Hitachi white steel #2, aka Yasuki steel, Y.S.S., Y.S.S. 2, Y.S.S. H 2, etc. Magnificent steel, get ‘em when you can.
Steve if your referring to my "white" quotation it was for the scales to distinguish which razor was which. However I hope they both are of white steel!! From the little I've found both are highly regarded companies! They both are still in operation today
I see the beginnings of SRAD rearing it's head. Welcome to "The Dark Side Of Shaving" @Axeman556 . There is no turning back now.
Unfortunately my friend you are right . I don't know man these Japanese razors just kinda bit me hard and scratch my itch! I guess you guys are stuck with me now !!
I knlw the feeling, I have many Japanese blades. I started a Japanese Razor thread, a while back. It would be nice to get it started again, so we can all admire what everyone has been acquiring. https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/japanese-straight-razor-thread.52548/
Suzumasa 13/16th 1/2 Hollow No stampings on the blade, and Mother of Pearl acrylic scales. This was acquired from @lindyhopper66 . Much thanks.
Here's the box I just found for the Suzumasa, or for one of the Suzumasa's. I originally thought it was in the family of Tanifuji made razors under Nichiri, but it is not.
Thanks!!! I was pumped when I found it! Im gonna say it a symmetrical kamisori , grind is different than a western , while being identical side to side it's also about 2.75 inches long
@Axeman556 I notice your last three razors are much prettier, and more interesting than your first three. You're starting to develop an "eye" for good razors. (or at least more unique looking ones).
Yes, yes it is. I dread to add up the cost of all my Straights. But, honing each and every one, except for a couple has been learning experience.
