6/8 Trident Cutlery Solingen Germany Do not know much about the maker .But I do like Solingen 6/8 blades .
This one will be traveling across the pond tomorrow to my mailbox. It’s a near wedge and will be the second Lund in my den. If it shaves at all like the one I already have (a half hollow) I will be thrilled. If nothing else, it looks good.
Thanks guys. Lund is the maker but they were not primarily makers of razors. They specialized in luxury items but when they did make razors they reputably went above and beyond to be of higher quality than any at the time. The Lund I already have is wonderful so I couldn’t pass this up. I am parting with my Greaves wedge to make room for it as I could never quite make friends with that one. Oh, it has been cleaned by the seller (Shavers Delight) but I don’t know that it is NOS. I’ll see what signs of wear if any are on it when I get it.
Here’s a little preview of my newest acquisition! Got another one coming just waiting to seal the deal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Peter J Micheals Perfecto 5/8 full hollow spike Guys how can I know if these scales are bone? They feel gritty ier and have some faint stryration
I am sure that Kinfolks will be a real good shaver when you are done restoring her .Great tight grain steel was used by the maker .
They look to be bone. One picture shows small holes where blood vessels ran through the bone. Could be camel bone. Gorgeous razor btw! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I admit... my normal razor purchase uses the “target of opportunity” approach- cool shape to be had at what I consider a great price. But I do have my “list” & this one was on there for a few years. The Shumate Shuraco... First time I saw the scales, combined with the MOP tang, and the gold on the blade face, I put it on the list. I don’t see these much, so it was a very hard wait to get to the end of the auction. While not mint, the tang and scales are really nice, and I would say the gold is in pretty good shape. Very happy! Tom.
Nice razors indeed !I wish I had the time and skill level to do some of my own restorations, quite a few hidden gems are out there to be had. I have several razors on their way and I will share them once they arrive.
No need to toss these to side there are lots of guys on here and others on the net you can find to restore it for you. I use several guys. Depending on your location I can refer you to a few. I’ll try to keep them as local as I can but craftsmanship is everything! You should contact eBay seller James Rowe in California! He goes by JJRoweguns. I sent him a few and he makes old razors legitimately look like NOS items. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for the information, I will definitely use him at some point. I am actually turning my acquisitions going forward into quality over quantity. I really love the new customs I have. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I really can’t stop laughing - this is just ridiculous... and I couldn’t resist! A full 10/8 Joseph Rodgers & Sons landed in the mail slot the other day (surprised it fit ). Massive may be an understatement, but it actually surprised me with the balance. The width and height of the tang, while comical looking, gives it a stable feel in the shaving position. I’ve got a little work to do as the wedge is somehow on the outside of the scale... interesting touch . But I just can’t stop holding it. Here it is next to the 13/16” Holder just for comparison. Just laughable... So excuse me while I go do some arm curls to train to use this beast. Enjoy this hobby! Tom
