This little beauty showed up yesterday.



For the modest sum of about $12 it has just about everything a guy could want. I look down the spine shows a nice little bend. I detect a warp going down the edge which had the cutest little metal shard still attached at the heel. It can shred paper in the middle but not on the ends. The scales are pinned crookedly.

It appears to be the perfect educational piece to use with my ConvArkies. Speaking of educational, I can vision it being manufactured by a burgeoning craftsman of maybe 12yrs old working on his 12th razor. Wondering what I would have gotten if I went cheap and got one of the $5 ones.

And, no rust.

 

Once you get a proper edge on that, it should give you fantastic shaves. These Chinese Gold Dollar razors are made with some nice steel.

 

I have heard that. But...... talk about rough.
500 miles of bad road.

 

You can learn a lot from the defects/rough quality of the Gold Dollars. Many of the problems Gold Dollars have you will see in other razors. But unlike a Gold Dollar, you usually don’t see all of them in one razor!

 

It is a pleasurable experience to get exactly what you want on an economical purchase. Hhmm.... wonder if the Gold Dallah folks are looking for a spokesman?

 

To get better at something, you must be challenged.

This arrived today, earlier than expected, what a nice surprise .

This is a Custom made Max Sprecher, 8/8 1/4 hollow.
I wanted an everyday or travel razor from Max, no thrills, just a clean looking razor.

I see, you are using the toilet as a razor pedestal, for the photos. I didnt notice that before. Thats a first here, I think.
