The Bunny arrived today. It came via a little-known service offered by the USPS: "Priority Mail 2-Day That Actually Takes 4 Days." I'm cleaning it up now (not that it needs it) and I'll give it a go tomorrow morning. Stay tuned. --Bob
Tom i just checked my email and Bob said he had received it. Guess I`m just a worry wart. Sure glad he got it. With regards. Bill
After lounging around for a few days at the San Diego USPS Distribution Center, the Bunny arrived yesterday and I had my first shave with it this morning. My first impression was that this does not look like any sort of "homemade" razor. The packaging is quite nice, actually nicer than what came with my Mongooses. The razor weighs in at 1.85 oz, giving it a nice heft in the hand (a typical non-adjustable injector weighs about an ounce). It is quite evident that Tom is a big fan of the Schick Type F, as it resembles nothing as much as a chunky Type F with an open comb. I gave it a quick (and probably unnecessary) cleaning and loaded a NOS Schick Super Chromium blade, It loaded like any injector razor, although I had to wiggle the key a bit to get it to slide in smoothly. One in, the blade slid smoothly into place and seated smartly against the blade stops when the key was removed. The MILD comb was in place and I left it there. I went with Valobra soap and The Veg because I am very familiar with these and have always found them to work really well. I did not find the blade angle to be particularly intuitive and the Bunny does not provide a lot of audible feedback. Still, I had it pretty much dialed in by the end of my first pass. I did my usual 3 pass shave. With the mild comb in place the Bunny felt, well, mild. I was able to complete all 3 passes at a fairly rapid pace, without weepers, irritation or any of that sort of drama. What I didn't see coming was that during post-shave I realized that I had just had a . . . really . . . close . . . shave. I honestly have to say that it wasn't much different from yesterday's shave, which involved my Alumigoose 2 and a Feather Super Pro. I'm really looking forward to experimenting with it for the next few days. Thanks to Bill for sending it quickly, to Vince for facilitating the passaround, and of course to Tom for making it all happen. More to follow. --Bob
Just wait until tomorrow, when you find out you really don`t need a shave. That`s how close it shaves without being aware of it. Bill
Good stuff Bob, I'm looking forward to your straightforward and experienced assessment. I know this will not be welcomed by others but, take the time you need for a solid critique. I'm sure all of us (and Tom!) will appreciate it in the long run.
As a Casual totally inexperienced Injector user I need to hear what you experienced guys learn from your test time. I'll be slightly experienced with the Schick J1 @Bama Samurai PIF'd my way by the time The Bunny reaches soggy ole Louisiana.
Nice write-up Bob. I look forward to more updates. Please comment more on the angle of the head/handle. Doe you think it's fine, like it is, or does it need more of an angle?
You made a VERY wise choice with the J1, i love mine, her name is Lady J. IMHO, she is , if not the best, she is up there with them. I have 3 injectors, i use her many more times than the other two. Good luck with your learning curve. With respect. Bill
Day 2 with the Bunny Bunny V3 w/NOTSO comb NOS Schick Super Chromium (2) Plisson synthetic brush Chiseled Face Groomatorium Ghost Town Barber soap & aftershave Another smooth shave, this time with the NOTSO comb, which seems to be only slightly more aggressive than the MILD comb. I could feel the blade a bit more and the shave was a bit closer, but still super-smooth with no weepers and not the slightest bit of irritation. I'll have more to say about the blade angle etc. after I get a few more shaves in - right now the Bunny and I are still getting acquainted. Tomorrow: I take a walk on the wild side. (I will not be shaving my legs.) --Bob
Bunny V3 w/WILD comb NOS Schick Super Chromium blade (3) Plisson synthetic brush Mitchell's Wool Fat Pinaud Clubman Day 3 with the Bunny, this time with the WILD comb installed. I like the way that the combs can be switched without messing with the blade. While the WILD comb is noticeably more aggressive than the other two combs, with it the Bunny is still much milder than an early Schick E2 or a cranked up PAL Adjustable. I slept in yesterday, so it had been less than 24 hours since my last shave. That, plus the closeness of the Bunny, meant I could have probably skipped shaving entirely today. But then I'd have no cool photos to post. --Bob
Stick a Chick Blade in it Bob ..Be Interesting to get you're thoughts on any if any Differences... Billy..
I had actually intended to start off with a Chick. Unfortunately, when the Bunny arrived I looked for the Chicks and came up with . . . an empty dispenser. I have ordered more but I don't know if they will arrive before I have to send the Bunny on its way. I do have plenty of Personnas and I intend to give one of those a try. --Bob
Day 4 Bunny V3 w/WILD comb NOS Schick Super Chromium (4) Plisson synthetic Chiseled Face Groomatorium Sherlock soap & aftershave Today I learned that the smoothness of the Bunny can lull one into a false sense of complacency. Excessive blade buffing resulted in some irritation. Nothing major, but I definitely knew it when I applied the aftershave. Gotta love alcohol based splashes. I may go back to the NOTSO comb tomorrow. --Bob
