I took several photos from different angles. While looking at the injector in relation to the Bunny, I noticed the piece labeled "Stem" appeared to be bent upward. I pulled the "Chick" Chinese made injector out and gently adjusted the Stem downward. This seemed to point the new blade in a more correct direction. In the photo above and to the naked eye the Stem seems to lift the large top copper colored spring, but more so on the right side than on the left. Not venturing into the innards of the Razor, I see there is another spring nearly hidden from view. Is it possible that the Chinese manufactured Schick injector Stem is not releasing tension on one of the springs to allow the blade to travel? With the Stem in the Bunny the blade, either the old not yet ejected one, or the newly injected one seem to move a bit. This tempted me to try to center and set the blade between and down to the stops. After getting it in what seems the correct position, I removed the Stem, and the spring does then put tension on the blade holding it in the correct and fixed position.
Ok that is good that when the stem (key) is removed the blade is held tightly. What is happening is the stem does not go all the way across the top main spring. If you look closely, the secondary spring under the main spring serves two purposes. The first action happens when you slide the stem in. There is a finger on the secondary spring pointing towards the stem entrance. The finger helps lift the main spring off the blade slightly. (Relieves tension) As that finger only goes the one direction. The main spring tends to torque down on the other side. This is to be expected. Then the second thing snd most important thing the secondary spring does. It puts a downward pressure on the blade keeping it firm against the blade stops. Here is a picture of the secondary spring. Keep the questions and observations coming please. Tom . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
B-V3 shave #5 Tried a new to me soap sample today. RazoRock XXX is close to being a cream, a croap? I plan to lather with it for the next week or until it's gone. It didn't bowl lather well so I loaded again and went to my face; better results. The Bunny is giving such effortless service that it does have that "extension of my hand" feeling. Second shave on a blade using the WILD comb and I was three passes done. Rather that irritate my trouble spots I put it down and rinsed. Alum block swipe alerted me to several places I should slow and pay attention around. Mostly jaw line - this isn't a Gillette DE. I was doing that 45 degree Slide thing that didn't work with a Schick SE either. Tomorrow I'll step down to the NOTSO comb and see if I can shave with abandon. Otherwise another happy date with the B-V3. Hugh Hefner can have his bunnies, I like Tom's!
B-V3 shave #6 Today I dropped back from WILD to the NOTSO comb. My grip is automatic now, the handle feels correct held in a four point grip between thumb and all but my pinkie finger. Angle of attack is becoming instinctual. While I did receive one nick it was knocking the tiny scab off a previous weeper. Using a new to me soap, RazoRock XXX, I face lathered and kept it wet. Very smooth results even though the alum stung quite a bit. After a generous dose of OldSpice I applied a dab of Cremo moisturizer for darn near my Best Shave Ever. This razor has given consistently close shaves that come close to allowing for skipping every other day. I keep searching for issues to suggest adjustments or changes. My only thought for today would be possibly a longer, more girthy handle - I have large hands with thick calloused fingers.
B-V3 shave #7 Used the NOTSO comb again today. Again a bit of irritation. I think it's due to the RazoRock XXX rather than the Bunny. Prior to going on a 30 Focus I had chosen soaps depending on a whim. After sticking with this particular sample (Thank you @Marverel ) for several days I've experienced a bit of rawness. Otherwise the B-V3 does it's job well. Some folks mentioned issues with clearing lather from the internals. I shave at my kitchen sink where the counter is higher & the hot water flows like a champ. The sprayer directed from the side doesn't leave any residue. No risk of bikini shaving in the food prep area either.
B-V3 shave #8 My final shave with The Bunny. It's been a great experience trying a prototype. Today I switched soap hoping for a less raw feeling. The RazoRock XXX was new to me, as is Saponificio Varesino. Going from a moist croap to what I assume is a triple milled hard soap put me in a better lather. The Bunny glided much better using the NOTSO comb. I wonder if less is better? If blade exposure = WILD > NOTSO > MILD > (LESS-SO?) <- Would there be any blade contact if the comb extended more? It might be about exposure, but also Angle of Attack? The common angle of an Injector is with the handle tipped towards the face. The Bunny worked best for me at closer to perpendicular. To adjust the sweet spot would require machining the very tip end at a less than 90 degree angle, and adjusting the bend of the top spring. Other than the issue about learning to load a fresh blade this was a very positive experience. Solid tooling. Precise fit of components. Professional finish. Great packaging. Thank you for your Stewardship Vince @Rufus T. Great Craftsmanship Tom @twhite ! Next up - Ben @ob1page
So happy you enjoyed your time with it. As always I appreciate you guys taking the tine to try it out and report back. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Trying my hand at Tapatalk. The Bunny is traveling today. @ob1page can begin his tracking and mailbox vigil. Sent from my Kyocera that's smarter than I am.
Is there a video somewhere that can show me how to load it? This will be my first ever injector shave
Just do not force anything when loading. Watch the blade so it does not slide across the stops. You will be fine. Light very light pressure when shaving. Have fun Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congrats ob1page! Here's the updated schedule. Bunny in Arizona with @ob1page Next stop - Colorado with @whiteboy_cannon On Deck - Minnesota with @lloydrm The US West Bunny Route.
Ket us know how it loaded for you. Any problems or anything. I need to know. Thanks Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I bought some blades yesterday and loaded it this morning, very easy to load, I followed your video and it easily went in. I'll be using it tonight for my shave.
