Imagine opening the door to a hot oven, the blast of heat that hits your face is what it felt like outside yesterday. It's supposed to be 115° today so not much better.
Tuesday Shave Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored Razor- The Bunny with Wild comb Blade- Schick (6) Soap- Mama Bear's Obsession Post Care- Crystal Alum Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO and M-Bomb Nivea Sensitive balm Another fantastic shave this morning. I think I'm switching to showering at night and shaving in the morning. Just seems to work out better for my schedule and it's a nice way to wake up. The Bunny again was flawless. My confidence with it is growing, I'm throwing every angle at it I can and it just keeps performing. I tried the Mama Bear's today, easy lathering with nice protection. Not the most slick I have but more than adequate plus it has that great Obsession scent. Definitely keeping it in the rotation. As someone who has never tried an injector before I do not have anything to compare this to but I'm getting the best shaves of my life with this razor. My time with it is dwindling so I'm going to do a head to head between the Bunny and my Type E. I figure I've got 2 shaves left, one on Thursday and another on the weekend. I'm going to use 1 razor for my left side and the other for my right and then switch for the next shave. I'm hopeful the Type E compares, we shall soon see. Have a great day folks!
Thursday Shave Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored Razor- The Bunny with Wild comb and Schick Type G Blade- Schick (1) Soap- Stirling Barbershop Post Care- Crystal Alum Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO and M-Bomb Pinaud Bay Rum I did a shave off between the Bunny and my Type G (I determined it was a G this morning, not an E like I thought). I used the Bunny in my right side and the Schick in the left. I loaded new blades in both, prepared some excellent lather with the Stirling and did three passes with each, WTG, XTG and ATG. This was my first go with the Schick and I started with it. Very light weight and easy to maneuver, also easy to find the right angle. The small head makes getting into small spots like my upper lip very easy. First pass gave good reduction. Next up was the Bunny. I prefer the weight of this razor to the Schick, it just feels better. A little tougher getting to the upper lip because of the head size but I got even better reduction from it. I relathered and went XTG with both. The Schick definitely feels different than the Bunny,I had to remind myself about the pressure because of the light weight. Great reduction again from both. Another round of lather for my ATG pass. I got a small weeper from the Bunny but that was the only issue from that side. Final results- a draw. I'm fully BBS on the right side from the Bunny and a very solid DFS on the left from the Schick. Had I not limited myself to just three passes I would have touched up for a BBS. The alum was completely silent on the Schick side, a slight burn on the Bunny side hence the draw. I'm glad to know I can get similar results from another razor since the Bunny leaves next Monday but I'm really going to miss it. Have a great day folks!
Good comparison! I shaved with the Bunny for the first time yesterday and mentally compared it to my Schick G the whole time. The end results for smoothness were just about the same. I struggled with the angle on my neck, but that will improve with more shaves. Glad the comparison worked for you!
For me the angle of the Bunny is more parallel to the floor than the Schick. Good luck with it, it's a great razor.
Yes, almost parallel to the floor, or perpendicular to your face, whichever way you want to think about it. I was fine with the angle on my upper face but had trouble with it on my neck. It will get better! I love the Bunny - it's such a cool piece!
It might have been the only time drawing blood, but it looks like you cut yourself good. At least equal to 3-4 small nics.
Sunday Shave Brush- RazoRock Tri-Colored Razor- The Bunny with Wild comb and Schick Type G Blade- Schick (2) Soap- Stirling Barbershop Post Care- Crystal Alum Thayers Witch Hazel with grapefruit EO and M-Bomb Pinaud Bay Rum Florida Water with M-Bomb Final shave with the Bunny, it's been a pleasure to try and I'll miss it. Same equipment as the last shave except I switched sides. The Bunny got my left side, the Type G got the right. As usual, the Stirling produced a wonderful lather with possibly my favorite scent. I did three passes again and here's the result. First pass was WTG with both and I had great reduction, I like how audible the Bunny is and how easy it is to clean out. The Type G makes it easier to get into tight spots because of its head size however I still prefer the Bunny. Second pass I went XTG, the Bunny finished this pass closer than the Schick. Third pass was ATG and I'm left with a BBS with the Bunny, DFS with the Schick. The Bunny just gets closer. There was a little bit of feedback from the alum on my left side, zero from the Schick. Even with the feedback the Bunny still wins. I'm definitely smoother on my left side. I think with a little cleanup I'd be BBS with the Schick so that is comforting me since the Bunny moves on tomorrow. I'll post my final thoughts on the Bunny a little later today. Have a great day folks!
Well, my time with the Bunny has sadly come to an end. I approached this experiment a little differently than I originally planned. When I was first accepted into the pass-around I thought "I need to practice with my Schick Type G" (the only injector I own). I then changed my mind and decided that my very first injector shave is going to be with the Bunny. I decided to approach this like someone seeing it on a store shelf and bringing it home to try. I had to watch the video on how to load it a few times but once I got it aligned the blade loaded easily. I followed the advice of others and for my first shave I chose the Mild comb, I used a slightly wetter lather than usual and the angle of the razor was almost perpendicular to the floor. I rode the cap for my first shave and for each shave thereafter. The only issue that I had was getting into the space under my nose, I couldn’t figure out the angle. I was then advised to go ATG under the nose and the problem was solved. I moved on to the Notso comb and then quickly to the Wild comb. This was when I started to get the best shaves I have ever had. I learned several things from my time with the Bunny. I learned that injector razors give excellent shaves. I learned that riding the cap works for almost every razor. I also learned that if this razor is ever released it is jumping right to the top of my need list. I appreciate the opportunity to use this razor and to discover how great injector razors are. I look forward to reading how everyone else’s experiences are with this wonderful razor.
Great write up. I really like the approach to the evaluation. Thank you for taking part. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you for the opportunity to try it, you made a wonderful piece of equipment. There is nothing that I would change.
Thank you for the insightful write up Ben and I'm very happy you enjoyed your Bunny time and discovered the wonder's of injectors and or your next rabbit hole. .......
Some quick glamour shots and first impressions. Love the look and feel of this razor! Machined very well. Excellent craftsmanship here that's for sure. The smooth finish on it is sleek and smooth. Will have to see how it is when shaving, I hope it doesn't get too slippery, but I'm sure some alum on the fingers will solve any issues. I did try loading a blade and the first one ended up skewed and looked to rub against the stops. So I injected another while holding the injector more steady and it seemed to load fine, here's to hoping it didn't slide on the stops. Anyways here is what will be my maiden voyage for the bunny tomorrow morning.
