The Bunny's Maiden Voyage in Southern Colorado Razor: The Bunny V3 Blade: Chick (1) Lather: Stirling Barbershop Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair Well this shave was very close. 2 XTG passes then an ATG pass. No cleanup was needed whatsoever and I'm as smooth as can be. I found that I need to choke up more on this razor compared to my other injectors or razors in general. This may have caused me to use a bit more pressure than I should have and it resulted in a fair amount of irritation on the neck and chin. I have a scar on my chin and despite the slickest I have ever had Stirling to get, I still nicked it pretty good. I think for my next attempt I'll skip ATG and just really work on the angle and light pressure. I was just going through my usual shave routine to see how I faired. May have to skip tomorrow's shave to let the neck settle. Stay tuned
I only have experience using three different Injectors, but they all gave me such close shaves that skipping the next day happened often.
Skipping the ATG portion is a smart move, on the neck. Were you using Mild, Notso, or Wild? I didn't see where you stated that.
Those Chick blades usually calm down after a couple of shaves. Depending on the amount of irritation, I might just skip the neck, or just do a WTG shave on the neck. With my crazy hair pattern, and how much of it on the neck grows out almost sideways, skipping shaves sometimes makes irritation worse. When I have irritation, I just apply good aftershave that contains moisturizers in it two to three times that day. It usually clears up quickly.
I usually don't skip shaves. Will just have to see how the face feels in the morning. For a while I was just doing WTG passes on the neck but recently have been having good success with ATG on it depending on the razor and technique.
I took a few photos of how I hold the razor. With these two grips, I am able to rotate the razor very easily between my fingers. The first photo is for my N/S shave and E/W W/E. The second is for my S/N and upward diagonal directions. Mind you I keep very little pressure on my razor also. Just enough not to drop it. I pretty much use this grip for all of my razors. Feather touch and a feather grip. I find that with the relaxed grip I can have a lighter touch on my face. Hope this helps. I would love to see how others grip their razors. Don't mind the hole in my finger. I drilled it at work a few months ago. No not on purpose Rufus Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My StoN pass I held the razor like you. But for the EtoW and WtoE passes I was much more choked up on it. I'll have to try changing the grip. Thanks for the photos!
I find these grips help me keep light(i mean light) pressure on my face. I just try to take the foam off and no skin. If you get my drift. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No that is the Rabbit hole everybody talks about. Mine just materialized. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's usually my goal when shaving, just the lather off. But was having trouble with my grip I guess
Pshaw! Can't fool me. I knew it the minute I saw it - Machinist's Thumb. No self-respecting craftsman goes more than a few months without one like it. The only question is - was it the initial event? or did you first bash the nail with a hammer or such, and then have to self-induce the hole by using the drill press to relieve the pressure under the nail?
Drill press I have done the self induced jobs before. They make a nice fountain when you first break thru Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
