I lived in Rock Hill SC for about 15 years...loved that part of the country. My daughter and grandchildren still live in that area. Amy and I visited last summer and Amy has made our goal to relocate back down there from central NYS. It hasn't been difficult for her to "convince" me. I'm not terribly familiar with Greenville, though I did visit the BMW facility several times for work. That part of the state always seemed like a fine one to me.
I am actually in Greenville now visiting family. Feel free to PM me and I will answer what questions I can. I currently live about 2.5 hours away but visit fairly frequently. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
One thing I meant to mention and don't know if anyone else has, is Greenville being centrally located to so many other cool cities. Charlotte, Knoxville, Atlanta, Columbia, and Charleston are all withing a nice little drive and all of those towns are really cool to spend a night or two in. I've almost got myself talked into moving to Greenville!
Beware of the Savannah River Site, get too close and you'll glow in the dark! Be careful driving around parts of Spartanburg at night, have someone riding shotgun, literally!!!
I enjoy parks I can walk; mountains, hills, rivers, going camping, hunting and hours and even days at a time. I've hiked mountains, deserts, vast forest, but Charleston wasn't for me. It is a series of puddles on the edge of the ocean and beaches. I can only walk beaches so many times before I'm bored. It only really has one season. If all food tasted the same ... eating wouldn't be enjoyable.
A bartender in Greenville said you get stabbed in Andersonville and shot in Spartanburg. Who knows...
Could be, not that familiar with Andersonville, other than driving through, going somewhere else. Tornadoes like it though!
We have seasons here in southwest Florida, all kinds of them. Rainy season, hurricane season, snowbird season ( that's the one where traffic is terrible and the restaurants are packed). But mostly it's hot and humid, we're talking 90 degrees and 80 plus humidity from April to November. Then just warm....
We have deer season, mosquito season, love bug season, crab, lobster & shellfish seasons, tourist season, Christmas season,....
I’ve been following this thread. A buddy of mine bought a house there a few years back and the prices have skyrocketed. That’s not a reason to buy, but the city does have much to offer.
You just described The Low Country. Just as oppressive as FL. The train Marines right up the road from Chucktown; sand fleas, heat, humidity, roaches....just like FL but with sand fleas.
