A recent news article stated that scientists had given the drug ecstasy to some octopus? You couldn't dream this stuff up. Getting weirder every day... Sent from my SM-S320VL using Tapatalk
Something that I forgot about... a restaurant in Massachusetts is getting lobsters stoned before cooking them? You couldn't dream this stuff up... Sent from my SM-S320VL using Tapatalk
There is actually serious research involving methyl-dimethylamphetamine (ecstasy), and the research I've read about using it to treat PTSD in veterans is quite promising. I imagine the octopus experiment was neurological in nature as well. Doesn't actually seem all that weird to me. Google "Alexander Shulgin" for the fascinating history of the club drug ecstasy.
So I'm watching some streaming video and a commercial comes on for Brenau University. Apparently, the copy writer for the spot must be a Star Trek fan as it had the narrator boldly splitting infinitives left and right.

My ability to remember song lyrics from the '70's & '80's is often exceeded by my ability to remember why I walked into the kitchen.
Work places and schools now have "active shooter" drills and training. Some workplaces screen incoming delivery trucks for explosives. There's a sign posted at the entrance of my local bank branch to remove your hat and sunglasses before entering. And the list of similar activities goes on. I would have never envisioned that we'd be doing things like this just a few years ago.
Of course, not too long ago and security concerns aside, people would have known to automatically remove their hats and sunglasses when entering a building as being the polite and correct thing to do.
If nothing else, active shooter training was thought provoking. I was part of a work group that watched this video, and we had a very good discussion afterward. All I can say is that I never viewed my workplace (which was a fantastic place to work in a rural area where you'd never expect anything to happen) in the same way after watching it. I don't dwell on it, but I also think about it when I step into any public place.
