Yup. I melt all mine into a small clear glass bowl. Make sure you have a microwave safe bowl, drop the soap in, nuke on high for 8-10 seconds bursts. Keep your finger on the STOP button and hit it as soon as it starts to boil. If it's still not completely melted, let it set for a few seconds, then hit it again for another 8-10 seconds. Remember, short bursts, and don't let it boil.
My FOUR personal must haves are, in no particular order: Arko shave stick Godrej shave round Proraso green tub Van der Hagen Deluxe The one soap I really want to like, but can't get to work right is Williams. I love the way it smells, but it won't lather well for me. If I rub it all over my face like a shave stick, plus load my brush with it, I can face lather with it and get a pretty good lather, but it gets thin and dry very quickly. So far, it only really works well if I add some Godrej Rich Foam shave cream to it.
Thanks. I'll try that tonight with my TSD Tabac scent and use that in the morning. So far I've only used the Pumpkin scented, and it is great. This should help with the ease of lathering, as I won't have to chase the puck like an angry Gretzky!
I just test drove Crabtree and Evelyns Sandalwood. Very nice. It has been 2 hours and I'm still catching a nice earthy fragrance.
It would be interesting if folks that posted when this thread was started, post again to see if their top three have changed. My top 2 are easy. Number 3 is harder to pick because their are several great candidates. 1. Tabac 2. Mystic Water (Lily of the Valley, Prospect Creek, Cedar & Sage, Lavender, Rosalimone, etc) 3. Cade, Calani Dubai, or RazoRock Fresco
at the moment there are only two that I would say are essential. 1. Mama Bear's shaving soaps (Tub for everyday use and Stick for travel) 2. MWF I have others that I'm using (some I like, some I don't care for) but nothing that is a must have. the one that would come close to essential is an unscented shave cream. This could be any unscented shave cream, at the moment it is Gentlemen's Refinery shave cream. I keep this on hand for those days that the soap of the day need just a little help (such as a new product that I am trying out) or I get over generous with the water.
Erasmic Stick (tallow version) or Valobra Stick Anything Mama Bear (No surprise tho that "Czar's Choice" is my favorite) Anything Queen Charlotte (shave) Soap (slight pref. to the soft soap)
we almost lost Mama Bear last week. She was about to shut down operations and get a job to make ends meet. that would be a sad loss.
my original Of my soaps, the top 3 NOW would be 1) Cella 2)MWF 3)Arko In that order. Creams: TSD Wheat
Soaps: 1. ARKO SHAVE STICK 2. COLONEL CONK LIME 3. RAZOROCK XXX (technically a croap but I count it as a soap) Creams: 1. ARKO ADVENTURE 2. FIGARO 3. OMEGA
I only have 3 soaps anyway...lol In no particular order 1. Omega Shave Cream 2. Appalachian Heritage Shaving Soap (Cedarwood and Eucalyptus) 3. Daisy Mountain (Sedona) 2 and 3 are both made by local soap artisans and 100% natural. I have yet to unwrap the 3rd one. I don't want to clutter my cabinet up too much. But hopefully will break it in soon.
Cella Valobra Honestly... haven't found another soap that I would give my #3 slot to. I haven't ventured out too far yet though either. I hope to try MWF and/or TSD soaps soon.
Holy Resurrected thread, Batman! Soaps: -Mikes Natural -Palmolive stick, grated in a bowl -Mama Bear Eucalyptus Cream: -KMF
