A little while ago, @Jrdelgado sent me these three case to work on. All needed to be completely re-lined, except for the top piece on the first case.......... For the first case, he also wanted to have the snap as on the original, but the outside was done in black paint as the cover material was completely shot. He sent me a snap kit, so I carefully removed the snap on the box. After I installed a new one, I also added epoxy to the back as the wood was really thin to make it stronger and made the top part and installed it's new part of the snap. The back hinges are antique brass ones he sent with the case. The small case in the middle was easy, but since the material on top was the same, I used a little poetic license and applied some clear to the band going across it to add some contrast, also to keep the ends from fraying. This insert for the Service Set I showed before which was paper thin from corrosion and used epoxy to make it stronger before re-lining. So this next pic showing all three completely done.......... These last two pics showing better detail of the first case. Since the original cover was gone and the case painted, I decided to add something to the top. Originally there is no lining along the inside edges, except for the cover material. So I decided to add some with the satin purple material as on the bottom. I figured it would look better this way. And the last one showing how the snap looks..........
That black case is for my single ring from England the handle was cracked. I am really excited about all of these. The military set is monogrammed both case and cap of razor. Just found a mirror for it. Thank you Jim!
Thank you Achim. If it wasn't for your site, it would be more difficult to restore or replicate the cases I work on.
