I'm using the Tiger Plat this week. It is a nice blade. I need to use an Astra SP when this one is finished to make a fairly accurate comparison.

I've been using the Tiger Carbon blades (not the three-hole ones that are purely for industrial use), on the third out of the tuck. They seem to work best in my PAA Symmetry Straight Bar, but they're only good for about four shaves before I need to swap them out for fresh ones. On the web site the description implies the carbons are more general purposes, among which includes shaving, which makes sense given my experiences so far. The Platinum blades are definitely made exclusively for shaving.

My whiskers aren't really fine. They're thick and generally stiff especially during the first couple of weeks of growth. When talking about blade smoothness, as I understand it, it has to do with how smoothly the blade glides across the skin. The smoother the blade, the less likely one is to feel it pass along the skin. That does come at the expense of sharpness in many cases, but the Astra Superior Platinums struck a great balance between sharpness and smoothness.

I've used countless blades with varying smoothness including all the Astra blades in countless different razors. They're good blades. There is still absolutely no question whether or not I have a blade in regardless of blade/razor combination and for all I know my beard is just average. Even when I'm shaving my head, which is just regular hair, it's very clear tactility whether hair is being cut vs passed over.

A lot of guys assume they have course beards and/or sensitive skin, but how many of us have actually compared our facial growth to a random pool of other guys to establish what average "courseness " is? I sure haven't. I remain highly skeptical that any blade/razor combination could actually produce an indiscernable degree of resistance.

I tossed the Tiger Plat today after it's 7th shave. Could have probably gone a few more shaves, but my modus operandi is to toss a blade after 7 shaves.
Tomorrow I will use an Astra SP, which is a blade I have used far more than any other. Should be easy to compare from one day to the next, and from one week to the next.

Used the Astra SP today. I didn't notice much difference from the Tiger Plat, but...
I usually don't notice much difference, if any, between blades unless they flat out don't work for me.

I've used Astra SP for enough years to say it works for me. A week of using the Tiger Plat: it works for me.

BTW: elsewhere outside of theshaveden.com, people are currently dissing the Tiger Plat.

I have both sorts of blades. They are completely different. During the shave the Tiger feels a bit dull and uncomfortable but the result is ok - good. But nothing special so I hardly use them

Good points. My skin changes from day to day. There are days when my face just doesn’t seem to want a blade. I’ve learned to listen to my face.

I’d venture to say that most people have only ever felt their own whiskers; I have only my face to feel. My stubble feels courser after the second day of not shaving. But by the third day, the longer whiskers begin to feel softer. It’s my experience that my whiskers tend to give most DE blades a run for their money. Superman’s got nothing on this dude’s stubble! My blades divot and dent before they wear out.

I just noticed that with my Green Cult 1.1 razor I got earlier this year, there is a Tiger Plat in the box. I had set it aside, but now that I've tried the Tigers, I will definitely use it since it is a great blade.
