Sunday, December 1 AoS Sandalwood~~dubl duck 2~~Gillette UK Super-Speed/Feather~~Oud Assam December already! Tempus Fugit. The AoS is as good as ANY soap on today's market. Another stunning stank by Rania J.
Tuesday December 3 AoS Sandalwood~~Simpson CH2~~Gillette New LC/Wilkinson~~Tom Ford Oud Wood Fresh Wilkinson blade in the LC and a great shave ensued. Tom Ford Oud Wood...love the scent---wish it lasted longer
Wednesday, December 4 AoS Sandalwood~~Simpson Milk Churn~~1936 Gillette Aristocrat De Luxe/Wilkinson~~Tom Ford Arabian Wood Because I have a lot of shaves remaining in this current 3017, I splurged on a vintage bottle of AoS Sandalwood EdT and a bottle of the ASB. The Milk Churn is so beauteous (sic)---always makes our friend @jtspartan green with envy.
Thursday, December 5 Tabac (Tallow)~~Semogue TSN Final Edition 1/50~~Wolfman WR1 .74 Ti/Wilkinson~~Tabac Extreme EdT Whilst waiting for my AoS stanks, I am going to play the field. Today's shave was outstanding. The WR1 is a Desert-Island contender. Stank du jour: Tabac Extreme. SWMBOSOA ®
Friday, December 6 ETHOS Rosa~~Varlet Mega HD~~Wolfman WR1/Wilkinson~~Vintage Gucci Pour Homme Whoa. Gentlemen---THIS is shaving. I feel sorry for the poor schnucks who suffer the drudgery of shaving. They have NO idea what they are missing.
Saturday, December 7 ETHOS Dragonsbeard~~Vie-Long~~Wolfman WR1/Wilkinson~~Diptyque Oud Palao Still off the reservation. The AoS Sandalwood ASB is out for delivery. As soon as the EdT lands, it'll be business as usual.
From cold crazy Korea. One night I go to sleep then wake to find out our crazy president declared martial law and that it ended before I woke up. Last week he held an unhinged press conference and after never holding press conferences then out of the blue late one night he declares martial law. He goose is now cooked and his political career is over. I don't even think his dog supports him any more. On a lesser note another block of alum has a great fall before reaching it's natural end. Continuing to work on the CK-6 formula soap, I think it should finish before the new year. Now I am lathering it like a mug soap. The little brush is a Rudy Vey custom with a flat top D01 knot while the bigger brush is an ebonite Shavemac.
Sunday, December 8 AoS Sandalwood~~Simpson Tulip 3~~Fatip Lo Storto Originale/VI-John~~AoS Sandalwood ASB Decided not to wait for the Sandalwood EdT. Started to load the soap and it broke up into about 8 pieces. Took said pieces and pressed them into my Captain's Choice Copper Shaving Bowl. Took the loaded brush to the Aesop and was able to create one helluva lather. The VI-John blade is a new one for me. It really tamed the Fatip, although I did manage to nick myself at the base of my neck. The ASB has a light and similar sandalwood scent. Veddy nice, indeed.
Here's my 3017 update from my neck 'o the woods. I'm almost half way through my La Toja shave stick. I opted to moisten it and mash it into a container for easier loading. My usage has dropped off as my daily shaves now consist of one ATG pass on my lower neck, two (WTG and ATG) on the mug, and a few jawline touch ups. I took @BaylorGator's recent advice and stopped chasing baby close shaves. (Yes, I patiently waited for several years until he finally gave some good advice.) I've got 25% of a bottle of Stirling Executive Man aftershave left. After it is gone, I will be down to two bottles each of Fine Platinum and Alt-Innsbruck. I'm steadily workin' down my AS inventory. At some point, I will simply rely on stank over application to mask BO, repel mosquitoes, and otherwise remain socially acceptable. Regarding stanks, I have eleventeen drops of TdH left, and I'll then embark on a 3017 of a nearly full bottle of Aramis Tobacco Reserve...with nothing else in inventory. Both are great smellin' stanks (ranking just below fried bacon, BBQ brisket, and sourdough bread on my top 5 list) that I'd be proud to wear on Senior Day at Piggly Wiggly. I'll eventually pick up another stank or two after I get a little further down 3017 Boulevard. Hope you all are well. All good here in the backwoods.
This is just Korea style craziness. The current president is done but this will propel the other party into power the next election which is not good. None of the political options now are attractive, all criminals or crazy or both. At least there was no violence and likely there will not be any.
Started Monday off with a smiling razor and a heavy dose of Mr. Blass. Mr B is a boozy, cigar and leather vibe that makes it a fun stank to wear and very easy on the wallet.
Monday, December 9 AoS Sandalwood~~Rooney 3/1~~Fatip Lo Storto Originale/VI-John The Fatip is a formidable razor. One wrong move and "GOTCHA". I have used better slants.
Tuesday, December 10 AoS Sandalwood~~Semogue 2012 SE Mistura~~1958 D3 Gillette Adjustable~~Frederic Malle The Moon Turned the Fatboy down to 3 and really liked the result. As a daily shaver, 5-9 on the 195 scale can be too "blade forward". Not pictured is my stank du jour: Frederic Malle The Moon.
