This is something I've never seen. It is Steve Martin in "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid," 1982. He is shaving his tongue using Barbasol and a double edge razor I don't recognize.

One wrong move, and he'll be in the Emergency Room lickety-split. Apologies for the tasteless remark.

Most 'round these parts say Loovavul. You gotta hold your mouth right, say it as one syllable, and try not to spit as you push the word out. It's best not to attempt it while chewing tobacco unless you really know what you're doing.

If I'm traveling, I'll sometimes say I'm from Looeyville to keep from startling the locals. Too bad the places north of The Mason-Dixon don't invest in public spittoons, though.

I waas startled to hear the golf announcers at the PGA say Looahvle just like the college basketball team. I thought they were broadcasting the Cardinals, not the golf. We here north of the MD line have odd town pronunciations ourselves, though. Worcrster is "Wuster", Peabody is "Peabdy". Come to think of it, we have a city that has the "Loohvle" sound in a way...Lowell is "Lo'l" not LoWELL. I'm just glad the towns I lived in throughoiut my life LOOK like they are SPELLED, so I don't have to mess up.
