Hi, I have used the shapton 1.5k stone several times now on a few razors and every time it has scratched the finish of my straight razors. I don't understand why this is happening, I haven't had any other bevel setter present this problem. Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Stone properly lapped.
Not too much pressure, you need some pressere setting bevel but not to much
    Flipping with the spine down
Not honing too close too end that the bevel goes off stone

Out of these, the only one I think applies to flipping with the spine down. Can you expand on that? I flip my razor with spine touching whetstone when honing usually.

There is not much to expand on. Spine leading or edge leading, flip for return with the spine in contact with hone. Sound like everything you are doing is proper. And you say does not happen with other bevel setters.

    Are sides and corners chamfered?
