After two years of being a hobby shaver, I've settled on a three pass process that works to produce a quality shave and find that it works as well using a Feather SS Shavette/well honed straight as a Schick Krona.

Pass One: Shave with the grain on the whole face or where you usually shave
Pass Two: Shave with the grain again.
Pass Three: Shave against the grain on the whole or part of the face you normally shave.

    Use a good wet lather

    Use minimal pressure.

If you decide to try this out, please report your experiences. :)

    No "across" the grain, huh?

I'll keep this in mind for trial after this month's focus is over!

I’m probably moving diagonally at times on my cheeks so a bit across. Thanks for considering and let me know . ;)

Today I used a '47 Super Speed, first generation type. The blade was an much used Astra SP. I did the progression I described for a wonderful result. I do believe the two intial WTG pass beard reduction sets up an ATG to be easier for me whether using a safety, shavette, or well honed straight.
