Well, I can honestly say that you can still come to most any rural area in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, or Missouri and if you are friendly, you'll be treated in kind. Get yourself some blue jeans or bibbed overalls, some lace up leather boots, and a Carhartt T-shirt. When you show up in town, do these things and you are in... 1. Yes ma'am, or No ma'am. 2. Please, Thank You, and You're Welcome. 3. Open the door for women folk and let them enter before you do. 4. Drive through town like you've got nowhere to go, and don't care when you get there. (translation: don't speed and wave at folks as you go by) 5. Any time you speak to anyone, smile! Congratulations, you're now a home town boy! (not to be confused with "homey")
Well, I happily left the People's Republic of Illinois 6 months ago and now live an hour north of Houston. It's marked accordingly on the map.
Sweet !!!! I marked where I will be tomorrow morning ps; @Mr. Shaverman just a heads up, there is a PNW meet in the works for Seattle in the Fall
The only real problem with San Jose is it is too spread out. you have to drive 20 minutes just to get to your mailbox…. Actually I lived there (near Los Gatos/Campbell) from 1967 - 1978 (until I went away to UCD for college) and experienced a good part of the urban growth (i.e. traffic congestion).
I lived in the Evergreen part of SJ for a couple of years and yeah..the distance to everything and lack of cabs on the street made me feel like I was back in Phoenix
