BUNNY has left the building! I had six shaves with the Bunny V3 and tried all 3 combs and now it's gone! Here are my final observations: COMB CHOICES: Unlike most previous users I much preferred the MILD comb (3 shaves). I used the NOTSO (2 shaves) comb and it was notso nice to my face; I got my only two weepers with the NOTSO comb. The WILD comb (1 shave) was OK, but not comfortable. With the MILD comb I really couldn't feel the blade or the comb, but the shaves were amazingly smooth, close, comfortable and effortless. After the first shave the angle felt natural and the feedback was enough to know the razor was doing it's thing (not that "tearing Velcro" feedback of other SE razors). With the NOTSO and the WILD combs the Bunny felt much more like a Schick Injector type E or G (that design). I could really feel the blade and the angle did not come natural to me even after 4 shaves. With these combs I had CCS/DFS shaves at best. With the MILD comb I had BBS shaves. What amazed me the most was that the easiest place to shave was my neck and chin, normal trouble spots. With all three combs I found it necessary to rinse alot; the blade seemed to disappear under all the cleared lather. Not a big deal since I like to swish my razors in the water in the sink to keep it clear and to let that little bit of water slicken things up. HANDLE DESIGN & FEEL: After the first shave the handle felt just fine in my hand. I found that I tended to hold it closer to the head in some areas (cheeks) and toward the end in others (curvy spots like my chin and neck). I didn't consciously do this, it just happened. I also noticed that the handle had plenty of grip unless it got soapy when it got a little slick, I guess due to the lack of any knurling or grip points. But, even when slippery I never dropped it or even came close. PROBLEM: The only problem I had was loading the blade and the spring tightness. After inserting the key, I had to wiggle it around a bit to get the blade to slide in and push the other out. Tom said this is something he's already working on. The result was that the spring loosened just slightly, but enough to allow the blade to shift back and forth about a 1/16th of an inch. I got into the habit of checking the blade during the shave. Right now Bunny is on its way back to Tom for a minor "tune up", then it's on to @JBSharp. CONCLUSION: Of all the injector razors I've used (Type B, E2, E3, G8, J, K1, Adjustable) this was the most comfortable. As much as I've tried I'm just not a big fan of injectors. Other than the Bunny with the MILD comb I've never had a BBS close shave with an injector. The Type B and the Adjustable came close, but neither was as comfortable as the Bunny. Tom said he's been searching for some negative feedback, but, other than the spring problem, which he's working on, I don't see any negatives. This is a terrific razor and I think it's a winner! I've proposed this to Tom as the official uniform of BTC members (Bunny Tester's Club).
I've proposed this to Tom as the official uniform of BTC members (Bunny Tester's Club). Whew, since the Bunny has already passed through my hands I think I just side-stepped a bullet.
I'm excited! I'm the recipient after @JBSharp! We live close to each other so it's possible to have a Bunny handoff instead of mailing it. That would be a neat addition to the East Coast pass-around. Maybe we could take a picture of our handoff. I've enjoyed reading about everyone's experiences. My G1 injector has risen to the top as my favorite razor since starting a focus with it last month. Being able to try the Bunny is quite exciting.
Perry, a hand-off would be very cool, I also share your passion for injectors now, glad they work for you. All that practice should make your Bunny experience all the more enjoyable.
Thanks, Herm, for another great Bunny review. I'm extra-excited that I'll be getting the Bunny fresh off of a tune-up from the hands of its maker @twhite Looking forward to it Perry. Maybe we can, as the say, do lunch one day.
@JBSharp Please PM me your address. I am hoping to receive the razor today. I will tune him up and get it shipped out on Monday for you. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hey Rich, you would like Youngstown, Ohio. When you're near the YSU campus, home of the Penguins, all the fire hydrants look like this:
Well. I could not leave well enough alone. I went out and tried to make another adjustment to the Bunny. I went and messed it up beyond repair. I need to make a new one. But to keep things rolling. I will be sending out my Bunny V2 until I can make a replacement in the next few weeks. I will try to incorporate a third rivet on it to help keep the spring in place better for people with heavy hands. I am so sorry for this inconvenience. Now off to polish up the V2 for the next guy. @JBSharp. Still need your address Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok. Here is the V2 ready to go. I will try to get the replacement out in a few weeks or so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
