For those who use both a soothing balm and a splash, which one do you apply first? Do you like to soothe your face first and end with the splash, or do you like to feel that splash tingle first and end with the balm.

I'm used to using one or the other but I've seen a lot of forum posts where guys use both, so I'm experimenting with using my Nivea unscented balm with different splashes like AV or Pinaud.

I use a small amount of balm after drying my face and an AS splash after it dries down

    Lets see....
I use witch hazel, do a clean up if necessary, it dries. Splash on some after shave, that feels good. Then after that dries, slother on the balm. When I have all the same scent, it's really nice. The menthol lasts longer if I use balm afterwards too.

I use the splash first and then apply the balm 10 minutes later.

Splash first, then balm seals the deal.

Unless the splash is Baker Street (which my skin slightly reacts to if my shaves aren't perfect--they often aren't). Then balm as a protective layer followed by splash.

I enjoy using Sea Breeze with the remaining lather not removed and then Aqua Velva after a shower.

Witch hazel followed by splash. Balm after that but usually only in the winter months. Most of the time I just use witch hazel and splash.

Witch hazel with a small fab of Nivea cream, followed by either a splash or balm.
